Do you like Marrakesh?????

The staff was awesome, belly dancer...very entertaining, my husband has video proof. :rolleyes1 BUT the food was lacking. One of the worst meals I've ever had at EPCOT. I know people who REALLY love it though

We have enjoyed Marrakesh on a number of occasions. Food quality has always been good, and they are very accommodating about substituting for picky eaters (son had fries with his chicken kabobs for example). I do think lunch is a better deal than dinner - prices are pretty different, and unless I'm missing something the meal is pretty similar. We ate at the late end of lunch last trip (around 3:00).

We loved(and raved about) the Marakkesh in 2008.

However, we went back last week 3/23/11 and it wasn't as good as I remembered.

But it was ok.

We love it- the atmosphere is just a nice change from the noise outside and the seafood bastilla appetizer and jasmine salad are so good!

My family has eaten there several times and enjoyed it, but the most recent time in December 2010 it didn't seem as good as I had remembered it. :confused3
The chicken bastille is delicious though!

It was my favourite restaurant until a few days ago - just returned, and I was so disapponted. They have seriously cut the portions down in size, so that the entrees look lost on the plate. The couscous which is normally great, was undercooked. Yuck! We had both of the feasts for lunch.

Lamb was still tender, as were veggies, but sadly after dining here for about 10 years, we won't be back for awhile.

Tiger :(

I liked this restaurant back in October 2009 and was thinking of returning in September, but I keep seeing reviews (here and other sites) that say the food in the last 3-6 months has not been as good as previously, which would be very sad. :sad2: I'm hoping it was a bad spell and that it will improve. I would love to hear some more recent reviews.

Like I mentioned, I have eaten here many, many times over the past 10 years, - we go to Disney 2x a year, and just ate there in July, and it was like old. Fast forward to last week, and it had changed quite a bit, so in the past 7-8 months since I last dined there, something has changed.

I am currently making ADRs as we speak for our July trip, and Marrakesh is not on our list, which is very sad, as it was my favourite restaurant.

Another Disney restaurant that has cut back on portions and food quality. :(

We ate there in June 0f 2010 and it was still as good as before. The ambiance is good, the belly dancer fun and we've always enjoyed the food. Though it's Americanized Morrocan food, it's still quite good, I get lamb, my son alway the beef kabobs. Even with the few less than pleased responses, I'll still go again to see for myself. I'm not so much concerned with portion sizes as I seldomly clean my plate, I owuld be more disapointed with if the food quality wasn't there. The economy and Disney's pocket have drastically changed Disney dining over the years, and Marrakesh maybe Disney's latest victim!

My DH and I ate there for lunch in '09 (?). We enjoyed it a lot, but it was just him and I and the belly dancer wasn't doing her thing.

I thought it was good enough to try again. Even my DH, who normally is somewhat choosy, liked it and wants to try again.

A lot of people have posted on here that Disney food is going downhill. I think that the service is starting to be that way, but in terms of restaurant and food terms, I see it as Disney is getting to the point that a lot of others are. Saving money when you are cooking for a large amount of people is very difficult- for every guest that they lose there, they will make up for it at another location because if reading the DISBoards is any indication, no one is stopping their trips to Disney any time soon. It is all about making money at this juncture.

When Disney stops the promotion of free dining, and I think they might soon, as they will probably offer room discounts as opposed to dining discounts based on the ever-rising cost food, I think you will see a difference in the quality of the service and the food preparation. Just my opinion though.

I share your opinion, FD & the DDP have changed Disney Dining, simply to meet supply and demand in Disney's pursuit of the all mighty buck and I don't see it changing. Unfortunately, I think those of us who remember the quality and choices available in Disney's top restaurants 6 to 10 years ago are in the minority, but I guess hope lives eternal! I guess I'll see this June if Marrakesh has fallen prey to the money machine! I still very much enjoy Tangerine Cafe, it was still really really good at Thanksgiving!
