It's not gross...DH's favorite meal is tuna boats and elbows with tomato soup...not that different

never tried it but im in for something new.... heck i like mac and cheese with peas and tuna mixed in, now my kids like mac and cheese with a can of corn

I don't eat/drink either so I wouldn't try it but I guess it isn't that weird.

Having grown up dirt poor it was one of the cheapest and filling meals one can have though we never used V8 but used Tomato juice.

Key is to not over cook the elbow macaroni before you drain the water and add the Tomato juice.

If you like that you might like egg noodles and chicken broth. it's chicken noodle soup without the chicken and dumplings. Frozen egg noodles are my favorite but take too long so I go with regular wide egg noodles.

Let me list the meals of the poor as I grew up an expert.

Mac and mater juice
egg noodles and chicken broth
mac/cheese with tuna and cream of mushroom soup (tuna caserole)
Hamburger with diced potatoes and shaved carrots mixed in.
Ramen Noodles of course

when we felt rich we might throw in a cube steak.. lol

i ate the noodles with tomato soup when i was a kid...loved it and still do. same idea basically.

I like tomato soup.....but very much dislike V-8 juice, so NO way would I like it

My grandma also made this same dish when I was growing up, (not V-8, but tomato juice) I still make it for myself about once a week or so, looovve it! Same thing though, not many of my friends have ever heard of it.

Lambert's restaurant has a dish called Macaroni and tomatoes and it is great. I wish I had the exact recipe :)

Although not exactly the same, one of my favorite dishes growing up was Macaroni & Tomatoes. It's basically cooked pasta, mixed up with 1-2 cans (or home canned jars) of smushed tomatoes. Mom usually seasoned it with pepper and celery seed. Now I'm craving it!

We also had Tomato Dumplings too, which are off the wall yummy!

We ate all the above plus my personal favorite BEANIE WEENIES!! I still crave them.
