Do you like every page? And what do you do if you don't?

Sometimes I love how a layout comes out, others times not so much. But I am usually happy to just have it done if it's not going the way I want. Do you start over or when looking through albums are there ones you wish you could do over?

I could have written this post myself. LOL Like you, I like most of my layouts but sometimes there are some that I just don't like. I will more than likely finish it and put it in my 12x12 plastic container (I still need more albums, so this is where they go until then lol)

I bought 2 albums at Kohls a couple weeks ago with a gift card I got for Christmas and decided I would put my layouts into them. Doing so, I noticed about 3 that I DID NOT like AT ALL. I will re-do them eventually.

I like looking through layouts online and what I do is take a picture of it and put it in a small photo album. I keep this on my scrapbook table. Sometimes I look through it and find a layout that I totally LOVE and realize that it would work well with pictures that I have already scrapped and I will re-scrap it.

it really depends on my mood - sometimes I just set it aside then use it for something else - maybe add some embellies that make it right with another picture

others go into the album with the thought that if I ever get caught up :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: I"ll redo them

There are layouts I love a lot better than others. Sometimes I look back and think really?? What was I thinking:confused3 I decided years ago though when I started this insanity:rotfl2: that if I liked the pages enough to attach them to the paper at the time, I wasn't going back to change them. I only work ahead. If I didn't work ahead I would want to go back and re-do all of my first albums when I was beginner. I would never be satisfied (Ask my husband-LOL) and I would be more behind than I already am.

I have to keep myself from "fixing" what I don't like or I end up with a big mess. I have ruined some pages trying to redo what I did not like about it because I can't stop once I start messing with it. So I try and just put them in a book and move on. Of course, there are always books and pages that I like better than others.

I don't like every page that I do. Sometimes, I finish a page knowing I'm not going to like it just to get it done and move on. I'm so far behind now, they can't all be amazing--MOST of them are not, lol. I don't go back and fix them or redo them, but when my boys look at the albums, they don't care. They don't notice that the paper isn't exactly right, or whatever, they like that it's about them, and they usually say so!

I think I read somewhere once, that you should aim to have every 5th pages be a "masterpiece" and the rest just be okay. Going with that theory, I figure if every 4th page is a "masterpiece" and the the first three are okay, then the 5th page can be a total dud!!

I agree with what most of you are saying... but especially I agree with what Steph said.... if you are doing this for someone else (especially your kids), chance are they won't notice the "mistakes" that make you cringe.

I've been scrapping the "modern" way since 1995 and have only gone back once or twice to touch up or change a page. Sure, some of my older pages make me CRINGE... and some day I may go back and make some changes to make them more "classic" rather than trendy.... but for now I am just trying to MOVE FORWARD.....................P

I never pull a page apart, because I figure I liked it at the time. Some I love, some are just OK - the point is, I've recorded the memories.

Also fashions do come around again:rolleyes1 Look how so much 70s stuff is back in fashion, especially in clothes and home decor, and in the 90's we were ripping it all out and putting it in the bin:lmao: I'd hate to bin something and then in a few years find it had come back into favour:rolleyes:

Some pages I love, some are OK. I won't change them. I usually try to make really nice trip pages, as most people look through them, my others are a mixture.

Most of my pages I love, but there have been a few that that just dont make the cut and they get shoved in a box in the back of the closet, I'll reprint the pictures and start all over again.

I went to a Creative Memories party 11 years ago with my mom. Neither of us had done any scrapbooking and we found ourselves really intimidated--and we hadn't even started yet. We mostly went to support my mom's friend who was the hostess. The consultant began her presentation and the only thing I remember from all those years ago is that she said "better done than perfect!"

This has been our motto. My mom and I have very different scrap styles. She sticks to the basics. I like to do more advanced pages. But what we do works for each of us. We don't love everything we do, but it's done and with all the pictures we have and the time we don't, our motto is sacred.

I'm grateful to that consultant who's name I can't remember. I never would have been brave enough to start without her help. And when I have pages that I get especially stressed about, I chant, "Better done than perfect!"

"Better done than perfect" is now my mantra:rotfl:
