I know I may seem strange, but DH & I like to keep our personal life & work life seperate. Do you like bringing spouse to work functions? We would go to a wedding together, but like dinners or Christmas get togethers- no-no. Plus DH would be uncomfortable anyways. How do you feel about mixing personal life with work functions?

I don't work, but my husband's company has a big, formal party every spring. I know a lot of his co-workers so it's a lot of fun for both of us. We've gone twice now and both times we went our separate ways after dinner and met up at the end of the evening. When I did work, we had one xmas party and DH didn't attend because it was small and he didn't really know anyone that I worked with.

Where I work almost every function is just for employees...we don't bring spouses to them. The Christmas party is usually no spouses also.

No, when I worked full-time he didn't enjoy them at all.

Well, since we have our own business and we work together, we have no choice but to bring each other to work functions :p

Ours is a small, friendly, family oriented type place so spouses are always invited and expected to attend the Christmas party.

I don't have work functions but I am required to attend several "events" every year that my husband's law firm provides.

I almost always dread them and I almost always have fine despite myself.

Up till last week DW and I have worked at the same place for about 10 years. I always felt lucky that we both knew all the people at the party. Now that she is going to work in an entirely different state, I don't think we'll be dealing with this for a while.
I'm finding company parties less fun as the world becomes more corporate and "putting in an appearance" is an obligation rather than a chance to have a fun time.

Yes, because I am often asked about him. He is often interviewed by local television and radio, so I often hear " I saw your DH on TV or heared him on radio", or "did I hear your DH on..." or "What does your DH think about...? He is good company and a good sport.

He goes with me to my company's annual Winter Party. I don't like to go to his stuff. He's a Funeral Director and the funeral home is small only about 8 people. Too weird.

I even think the smaller the gathering it's even worse because it's more intimate. (uggh!) We really don't prefer to attend each others work function. I always feel awkward.

Even I didn't like to go to my work functions. :)

Wow. I always go to DH's work functions. I didn't have any when I worked full time but I'm sure he would have attended if it was something that included spouses/families.

I would be angry if he didn't want me to come to his xmas party or one of the other zillion parties they have throughout the year.

Because we move a lot and so do many of his coworkers a lot of our friends are through work so I know them and their wives, etc. They have about 6 functions a year and I usually go to all of them if I don't have other plans.

I always go to his work parties if they are after work. There are someoffice parties that take place during the day and no spouses come to those but that is to be expected. The company always has a family picnic in the summer at an amusement park and we go. At Christmas they always have a formal party that we love to go to. Not really that great for the party time but we always get a room at the hotel for the night and that is the best part. I would be hurt if DH wouldn't want me there. I'd also suspect something might be going on that he doesn't want me to see.
