My daughters boyfriend was over awhile ago and made a horrible face when he saw the dog licking the dirty dishes in the dishwasher. It was obvious that was something that did not happen in his house.

I figure if I can't trust the dish washer to clean dog spit off the plates I can't trust the dish washer to clean human spit off the plates.

I put no to the fact that I don't put a plate DOWN for the dog to lick. Now yes, from time to time I have to "Shooo" the dog outta the kitchen when that dishwasher door is down! But that is not very often since she knows she is supposed to leave it alone. My boss on the other hand can be on a virtual meeting with ton of ppl and just leans over (in camera view) and gives his plate to the dogs to "finish up". So, no, not really in our household but I do know many that do!

I assume you mean off the same dishes that I use, not the plate I am currently eating from. Sure, I use the same saucers to feed the cat from that I would use. I hardly ever use them, but it wouldn't bother me. Once they are washed, they are clean.

When our cat was having intestinal issues, she got bone broth from a regular bowl. Then I had to give some to her sister and the dog. They all get tuna water when I drain a tuna can. I do not give them my bowls and plates to lick. We do have a dishwasher, so I feel germs are killed.

Not as a course of habit, but occasionally, when we're having something like ice cream (non-chocolate), we'll let our dog lick the dish. FWIW, everything in our house goes through the dishwasher.

I once had a rabbit who would hop into my lap to investigate what I was eating. If it was a rabbit-safe food (like apple), I would put a small piece at the edge of my plate so he could grab it and run. I didn't mind him putting his paws on the plate, but my mom thought it was weird.

My current rabbit is not much of a lap bunny, but always seems to know when I have something he likes. He will sit at my feet and beg until I give him something. I cannot eat a banana without sharing a small piece.

We have cats, so they don't eat tons of food off dishes, but I will give them tuna juice or things like that in our regular bowls.

I was watching a video the other day and the lady was putting cheese on the pizza with her dog beside her. dog kept licking the cheese and sauce off 1/4 of the pie and she just kept on her merry way sprinkling the cheese, the dog catching about half of it mid-stream too.

Nooooo..... T.T

I know she was gonna cook it but yuck.

The only human plate/utensil our dog eats off of is the butter knife we use for peanut butter. After we make a sandwich he gets to lick that clean for us. It is a very dull style of knife so he doesn't hurt himself.

Here and there she gets to lick up a bit of leftovers off the dish before it gets rinsed and put in the dishwasher. Not every day or anything. It's going into the dishwasher anyway... plus she has lysozymes in her saliva. ;)

Oh, this thread is disgusting lol

It’s the same as eating off a plate that someone barfed on. It’s clean after the dishwasher...right?

:crazy2::crazy2::crazy2:

I wouldn’t hesitate to eat off any dish that has been properly washed barfed on or not.

In fact I know I have.

And I know each of my kids barfed at restaurants. I imagine they did NOT toss an entire table full of dishes.
