Do you let your little girls wear their princess dresses at DL?

I thought I'd let my little girls (3 & 6) wear their princess dress at DL. But my hubby thought the dresses would be too cumbersome for rides etc. He thought it would be a pain to try to arrange the dresses for the rides. I don't think it'll be that big of a deal but thought I'd ask anyway. For those of you who've done been there and done that, what do you think?

I let my daughter wear her princess dresses two different days while at DL last year. She loved it and we didn't have any problems on the rides (although going down the stairs at Nemo was a little difficult). I chose the days we were seeing the princesses as the days she would wear them.

we did the same. My DD loves to wear them. And they get so much attention when they do. Chip and Dale bowed to DD like she was a real princess!

The day we had lunch with Ariel we went back to the hotel so my DD4 could change into her dress and shoes and get "pixie dusted" (spray glitter from Libby Lu) Then she stayed in her Cinderella dress the rest of the day and went on a ton of rides and it was no problem. I agree that a lot of attention is paid to them when they are in costume. I did bring a change of clothes in case she wanted them and am glad I did. She lost her Cinderella slipper in the lagoon at DCA and had to wear purple Crocs the rest of the day!

When my girls wear their Fairy costumes - Tink and Iridessa - they feel like are the hit of the park. (That would be the proud Mommy talking.... )

Seriously, though, we had Iridessa before the movie came out last summer and my littlest got so much attention wearing it! My oldest makes an awesome Tink, too. Peter Pan just adored her. Here are some shots of them at the park...

We take our grandkids to DL for their fourth birthday. We have 7 granddaughters and 1 grandson. They all start their trip with lunch at Ariels. The grandson wore a Woody costume and the girls wear Princess costumes. We take a change of clothes incase they get tired of the outfits but so far that hasn't happened. I would say YES wear the outfits. It is all part of the disney magic. Enjoy

On make sure you get the versions that are actual flat shoes and make sure they get broken in well before hand. The park is not the place to break in shoes - for anyone! The Disney Stores tend to sell these more than the park. I've never been impressed with the princess shoes they sell at the park.

That's part of the trip planning and excitement.. they get to buy one new princess dress for the trip.

and my grandson has a captain hook costume that he LOVES to wear.

I always wanted to when I was a little girl, but my parents would never let me for the same reasons. I see little girls in them all the time when I go, when my boyfriend went if we so one in line he would go "Oh my goodness Hon, look who were in line with its Cinderella herself!" seem to make them smilie. I think its a unique experience for little girls especially if you go to the Princess Fantasy Fair. Hope your girls have fun!

i was wondering the same thing. we're having lunch at ariel's when we are there in may and DD1 LOVES the princesses. i am seriously thinking of having her wear a princess costume on that day (i would still need to buy one).

I would let my daughter wear her dresses if she wanted too. I put Ava in an Alice dress while at disneyland and she was comfortable. I'm not too fond of the dresses with the scratchy tule so anything I bought her would have to be comfortable either way, as long as it fits right and its not too hot out.

I let my girls wear their dresses as much as possible at the park...I usually have a "mommy bag" with a pair of shorts and a tee for each just in case. We stick with tennis shoes or crocs tho...partially for comfort and partially because the year we bought the shoes, they were slipper style (Jasmine) and my little one wore holes through the bottom within a few hours walking around.

The attention they get is great, it's fun for pictures, and really makes them feel extra special. I was so sad when my 11 year old decided she was too old for it!

I get mine when the Disney Store or Disney Shopping.com has them on clearance. It just depends on which styles you like. Right now, the park ones are the most twirly. Depending on the "preferences of your personal princess" (say that 3 times fast), this could be good or bad.

The ones at DL are considered the "Deluxe or Premium" style and are priced accordingly. Also, they change up the design several times a year. Right now the current Disney Store version is a "ballerina style" with a shorter skirt. They may still have another, more traditional version, I think.

You know what I honestly would do if you still have some time... I would first search eBay and the Disney shopping websites and see what style you guys like. That may tell you where to buy. You can often find used ones that are in great condition. Just make sure you get the shoes ahead of time - like I mentioned above - to break them in. When the dress style is changed, so is the shoe and accessory style. The old ones move into clearance....

We have a Snow White dress that I bought at the Disney store, Cinderella & Snow White that I bought off of Craigs List (both were used) and a Belle dress that I got at Costco a year and a half ago at Halloween time.

In other words, there are lots of places to get princess dresses!

I got a Cinderella dress for my daughter last year around Halloween time at Walmart for $12 and it was surprisingly nice. I refuse to pay upwards of $100 for those things!

Actually Target had some nice ones. You might want to check it out. I found the crown at Walmart for half the price the party store had it for. we have them wear tennis shoes instead of the dress up shoes.
