My family and I were in Downtown Disney on Friday and got stopped by casting for Supernanny. We qualified to talk to a producer... then we qualified to get a second interview from another producer, that producer will call me this week.

Does anyone know anyone or have you ever been on the show? How was the experience? Do you get paid... if so how much?

I am really nervous about saying yes... I don't know if it would be too embarassing for my family. My kids are not that bad but they said they film for 2 weeks and edit it down to about 30-40 minutes of the kids misbehaving, which the producer said is usually easy to do. Heck my kids definately misbehave for over 30 minutes over a 2 week time frame.

I was just wondering what your thoughts would be... would you or wouldn't you do it. :scared:

Not in a million years. I'd be afraid of earning a reputation I don't deserve.

Those shows are spun to make you look bad so the nanny looks good.

I can't imagine ever being on one of those shows, or even qualifying for an interview. Although I guess I'd rather qualify for Supernanny than one of those disgustingly dirty house shows. ;)

nope....i wouldn't do it, especially if they edit it to show only how your kids misbehave. would you really want that to be their 15 minutes of fame? i know i watch the show and often think, "wow, i'm a good parent" or "wow, thank god my kids don't act like that!" do you want to present your family in that light on national tv????

what i find interesying is that they are approaching people to be on the show? i thought all of those families were desperate for jo to come save them from their rotten kids!

Are your children little demons? No? Then I wouldn't subject them to it! :)

Never. I would never do that to my kids.

I can't even stand to watch those kind of shows. My kid doesn't need a Supernanny, he HAS a SuperMama!! :lmao: You know the kind... the one who makes sure it doesn't happen BEFORE it does??? Let's hear it for Old school!!

I don't think I would -unless you really have a problem that you feel she could help you with -or the money was great.
LOL -I would qualify for a messy house -not horrible -but the "before" on designed to sell when they have piles of junk etc...

No, No, No.

Why would you want to show the world what horrible little monsters you are raising (that's what it looks like on TV).

Nope, I wouldn't do it. I however have threatened my kids that I would call her if necessary, lol. My 17 year old said he wouldn't sit on the naughty mat, :rotfl:

I have good kids, they don't listen some times, but I didn't either when I was their age:)

I also would never do that show. I just would not put my family through it. I have three boys and while they are not angles all the time, and do have some screaming matches at eachother, I do not think their behavior warrents Super Nanny.

Besides, if the producer told you they would only show their bad behavior could you imagine the image those kids would have in their neighborhood and at school. No way would I ever put their self esteem through that.

That is my biggest fear. I don't want other families I know thinking we have horrible kids, and they are all horrible on that show.

Qualifiying was easier than I thought... they were focused on me being in WDW on vacation without DH because he was working-- he is a workaholic (he is a VP at a mortage company), my oldest has ADHD and learning disablities... I help out at the girls school way toooo much and over schedule myself and the kids because I can't say no when someone needs help.

I think they were going for the stressed out over scheduled family, career father, SAHM mom. Not necessarily horrible kids. (Although they did ask the girls when there last fight was and they fought on the to DD over who was going to sit next to my Mom... )

That is sooo funny I always watch it saying thank god for the kids I have... my kids would never behave like that.:rolleyes1

You are a SUPERMAMA! :woohoo:

MONEY... I could buy DVC! :wizard:

I don't think I'd do it. I can't imagine watching it with my girls and them seeing how horrible they looked on t.v. and then them having to go to school and face their friends the next day.

Even if they didn't watch the show, I'm sure the kids at school would and I bet they would hear about it!

I am a nanny. Never in a million years would I let another nanny come into my home and proceed to tell me how to deal with my child!:rotfl2: DS is a pretty good kid anyway, and since he is our only one the footage would be pretty boring.:rolleyes1

I'd love to call Supernanny for our friends and their horribly behaved younger child! Anyone ever done that!? DS has turned down going to their house for playdates with his friend b/c the little brother is a total terror!!!! Instead, playdates w/the friend are at our house to avoid conflicts w/the little terror. How sad is that?!

ETA -- any time I'm at their house and the terror starts to act up, I tell him that I have Nanny Frost's phone number and I'm going to call her. One time, he got so bad that I sgrabbed their phone and said that I was calling Nanny. Of course, I called my own home but he didn't know that!! He begged me to hang up, screaming
"I'll be good! I'll be good!"!!!!! I told him no and proceeded to leave "Nanny" a message!!! He kept yelling "I'll be good, I'll be good!!!!" Yeah ... promises, promises! I wish I really had her number!!!!

My sister's old supervisor was on one of the wife swap shows. She was NOT happy with the editing.

:yay: :cheer2: :yay:

Jo and I would not be able to see eye to eye. :sad2:

They pay that much:eek:
I might need to rethink my reply.:rolleyes1

Can I ask what you were doing to be stopped and asked to be on that show?? Where your kids acting up when they asked you?

I wouldn't want my kids being shown around the country as being little devils.

Just remember that drama=viewers and viewers=$$$$$$. The way to present more drama - editing.

Soooo much editing is done in order to make an ordinary family (meaning the kids have a normal amount of kid drama) look like they are out of control.

Not sure about the money thing. I was always under the imression that reality shows don't actually pay (unless it's a competition).
