Do you keep your luggage with you or have it delivered to your room?

The Hyatt at Orlando international Aiport
When you check in at the Hyatt, be sure to tell them you are taking DCL transfers the next morning. They will give you a letter to read about how to handle the bags the next morning.

You leave your bags inside your room at the Hyatt and they get it to the DCL transport vehicle.

You fill out the bottom portion and hand it to the DCL transfer desk people when you check in for the bus. It's the cross check process to ensure your bags are delivered from the Hyatt to the DCL truck.

In all my time here on DISboards, I've only heard of one instance where the bags didn't make it from the Hyatt, and that was before they started doing the letter above.

We have always wanted to!
When going to WDW it made more sense to get another night at our resort, so this is our first chance.
Fabulous hotel. I call it "swanktastic". Great customer service and beautiful rooms. You may also want to bring a change of clothes in your smaller bag. Just in case you want to swim or if you want to change for dinner. You don't have to change for dinner. Some people do.

We did the letter and reminded them when we checked out. My husband is paranoid too.

Sounds great!
A change of clothes is a good idea, we're hoping to swim and ride the Aqua Duck after grabbing some lunch!

We let Disney handle our luggage all the way.
They pick it up at MCO and deliver to our resort. (We always arrive at least 1 day early and stay on property).
We then take the DCL bus from the resort and let them take the luggage.
After the cruise, we let them take our luggage to the plane. (We use a "Participating Airline" {American Airlines})

Trying to decide if we should keep our bags with us or check them when we board the Disney transport bus.

My husband is afraid something will happen to our luggage (both are under 22 inches we carry them on the plane).
Has anyone had bad experiences?
Do many people lug their bags around with them? I think it would be a pain to do.
DCL handles it with no problem at all.

Well, I guess we're just different. We're pretty light packers, so if it's 7 nights or less we both just have a small roller and a bag that fits easily on the handle. We drive to both PC and Miami, and just keep our luggage with us. Never had any problems maneuvering around to get lunch, and then as soon as we can get into our cabin we unpack everything. For us, that's something we really like to get out of the way as quickly as possible, rather than having to wait/guess when our luggage will arrive.

If we are bringing the allotted beer on board, do we put it in our carry on and lug it all around until the rooms open? Sadly, I'm thinking the answer is yes!

Yes. Any beverage (beer, wine, soda, water) brought on board is to be in your carry-on.

Will a porter slap a tag on it? Sure. He wants a tip. BUT if you put beverages in your checked luggage and they break and damage other people's luggage, you are responsible for that and will have to pay to replace the damaged items. (I heard some officers in the hallway discussing with a man a few cabins down one cruise - he had put red wine in his luggage and it broke and had pretty much ruined another party's luggage.)

As noted all beverages you bring onboard must be carried on.

Do people pack it in their checked bags, yes. Do they get away with it, yes. But, as noted, you're responsible for any breakage damage your beverages may cause.

Also, I believe, if DCL finds alcoholic beverages in your checked bags, they will confiscate it. Found it on the DCL website:
  • Any alcohol packed in checked luggage will be removed and stored until the end of the cruise.

Ok bring on the lugging it around for a few hours! Thanks and I agree checking it would be a terrible idea!
