do you judge people by how they type online?

I can only stand if people either use proper grammar completely or use it for the most part and just don't capitalize things. Otherwise, I want to tell them to go get spell check :P

It depends on whether the poster uses the same "style" of writing each time. Repeated or constant errors do lead me to conclude that a person might be very young, handicapped, ESL, or just uneducated. If you want to call that "judging," then yes, I do judge them based on their posts and I choose whether or not to read their posts accordingly. An occasional mistake (or misteak, lol) doesn't ping my radar, but someone who uses "excess" instead of "access" multiple times in one post...I just assume they don't know any better or they don't care.

Elsewhere on the web, there's a frequent poster who capitalizes every word in every sentence.

It's Like This You See And They Never Use Punctation Grammar Or Spell Check.

They may very well have something important to say, but they have gone out of their way to write in a manner that is difficult to read. I figure it's my loss, so I just skip over his/her posts now and don't even bother reading them at all.

I'm pretty sure that happens automatically if the entire post is written in caps. It may not be the poster's fault, assuming it's somebody on here.

It just annoys the heck outta me when people type "lyk dis"

It's takes no extra effort to spell the word properly. For example, properly spelling LIKE and spelling it LYK, there is literally one letter difference. So why not just put in the extra letter and change the Y to an I. Typing takes, practically, no energy, so I just don't understant why people type like that. Even as a preteen when typing like that was all the rage, i never did. I just comes across as immature and lazy to me.

Like Caitlin said, I also can't stand when people add extra letters for no reason. I have a friend who HAS to add atleast 2 extra letters to EVERY WORD SHE TYPES!! It's annoying as heck. I understand if you are emphasizing something, but not every stinkin' word.

Those are my only two typing complaints. lol

I hate when people do that. ihhtt iss juustt soo poiintlesss too tyypee liiikee thiss! One thing that really bugs me is when people say 'ihhht' and 'youuhh' Why? It makes no sense!

I think it is harder to type like that because you have to think about it. I dont even think about the spelling much when I type. It seems like more work doing that. I agree with everything you said!

Honestly I do judge...

I'm a huge grammar freak so everything has to be right or I get annoyed...
Using the wrong your, to, and where drives me absolutely crazy!
i don't mind when people type in all lower case- i do it 9/10 times...
Not using proper punctuation depends on what is being said. If someone is typing a really long unnecessary paragraph without proper punctuation that has no point and goes on and on and on and on...then I freak out...
WHEN PEOPLE TYPE IN ALL CAPS BECAUSE THEY THINK IT'S COOL....i just ignore the whole thing...
A "friend" on my Facebook uses a 'q' instead of a 'g'-- typinq, lauqhinq, etc...--and that is becoming very annoying...

When people type in a "non-proper" way I tend to lose a little respect for their opinion or whatever they are saying. It's not that hard to type one or two extra letters or rereading your writing to make sure you used the proper word forms...

So yes, I do judge... :rolleyes1

Typing in all lower case doesn't bother me, and the occasional misspelling doesn't bother me either. But if you can't take the time to type properly, then yes, I probably am going to judge you.
If youuhh typ lykk dis- you can stop talking to me, and forget about me reading anything you type, because I don't have the patience to try and figure out what you're saying.

It drives me insane! I don't care if someone does it occasionally, but when then keep doing it then I judge.

if ur guna tYp lyk disssss , i'm going to ignore you.

if you're going to type like this, i'm not going to care.

If you have great grammar, I'm not going to care.

So, I guess you can say that I judge, but only to an extent. If i can barely read your post, i'm gonna save myself the trouble and just skip it.

I honestly do. I can't help it.
When I can see the person puts no effort into what they write I automatically think they're either younger or lazy.

Yes I seriously consider how people spell and type on the internet. It's not that hard to spell check and to capitalize. There's no reason to TyPeZZZ lyKk DISSss. I type everything out in e-mails, on here and even in texts. Although the internet is a place of 'informal' communication, there's no reason to completely ignore the rules of spelling and grammar.

I think I judge more for words that are not spelled right, or using the wrong 'to' 'where' or 'there'. Disregarding apostrophes kkkiiiiinda bugs me too.

That being said, chat speak, when used minimally is alright. But when someone tries to use entire paragraphs of it, I won't read it.

So yes, I do judge. If I see an entire paragraph full of errors, I'll probably just judge and not read, and not answer.

This. Exactly this.

If a person tiped lyk ths I'd assume they were younger/immature.
I don't mind if people replace you with u or are with r; I've been known to do that in a rush. But if they type in the way that I must go searching for a translator then I tend to get a bit pissy.

So yes, I judge.
