I have always taped the gift receipt to the gift at Christmas time. I always figure if the person wants to return the gift, it saves them having to ask for the receipt. A lot of people, including myself, are uncomfortable asking for a receipt to make a return.

Do you include the receipt or have someone ask you if they want to make a return?

I tape receipts to ALL gifts-birthday, Christmas, etc. I would rather not know if someone really isnt happy with a gift. I have received duplicate gifts many times and always appreciate when the receipt is attached.

For family members, I just tell them to let me know if they need to return/exchange anything. I always keep my receipts.

Non-family members I always include the gift receipt with the gift.

For me--depends on the person, the gift, and the circumstance. For sizing issues or questionable duplication, I will provide it. If it is clearly something that cannot be returned, there is no point. If I think it is a person who returns everything they get--I don't. But then I'll give them cash or a gift card so they can go shop for themselves.

depends on who its to. Boyfriend no, b/c i'll probably be with him when he's returning it. Sisters too, but friends, co-workers, definitely. I don't want them to feel awkward if they need to return for whatever reason.

If the risk of duplication is high or its electronic I keep them.

For my nieces and nephew and let my sister and brother know that I have the receipts if they need them. I don't put them with the gift because I'm afraid the kids will lose them in the shuffle of opening presents and ripping boxes open.

For any charity items I always include the gift receipt.

Yes, especially with kids' stuff, because it's easy to get duplicate toys, etc

Of course! I don't really see the point of obtaining a gift receipt if I weren't going to attach it to the gift.

ME TOO!! I always put a gift receipt - especially after receiving multiple gifts at kids birthday parties!!

Exactly! In DHs family that is what we all do and no one's feelings are hurt. Sometimes it''s a wild guess what the kids would like so if I missed the mark, I want them to be able to get something they want.

I attach the gift receipt with a bit of cellophane tape to the box. It's harder to lose that way. :goodvibes
