Do you have your kids call non-family "aunt" and "uncle"

Yep, my BFF's and thier DH's and DH's BFFs are all "Uncles" and "Aunts" to my kids.

I don't even bat an eye. I consider my BFF's my sisters...so it only seemed right to call them Aunts. I am thier kids "Auntie Andrea", too..

Not only blood can make people close!

I don't take offense to it. My 2 best friends are aunties to my kids, and their husbands are uncles. The same for us with their children. I guess I'm close enough to my bffs to have them called that. They grew up with me (preschool and through college) and have shared every milestone in our lives as well as the boys' lives so I feel like they've earned the honor. Now someone we don't know that well is just Mr. or Miss X (excluding family of course).

DH was against our kids using the title "Auntie" or "Uncle" for close friends, so we did not do that. He brought the subject up when I was pregnant with our first . I guess his parents used to bestow the titles on any older adult in his life and he was always bothered by that. I had no preference either way, so it's all good.:goodvibes
