Ok, something for fun... We have never gone to DVC during Christmas, but given the booking difficulties I imagine many do. Do you, have you.... do you plan to?

Any special memories (good or bad)? :)

We go the second week of December because DH can not get away for Christmas Day but it is Christmas for us!

XMAS to NY is now our favorite week. This will be 3 in a row. We are at VWL for the first half and plan a lot of MK, then BCV (minimal bus action) for NY Eve at EPCOT/DHS and 4 more nights-just stroll home. We like the longer park hours, decor, show's, parades, snow on main street, fireworks etc. Plus the weather compared to MN is incredible.

I suppose you're talking about the real day? We've never and aren't likely to do that. However, if you mean "for the Christmas festivities" yes! Once we found out that Disney does "do" Christmas, we go every year during the celebration. We just found out about the festivities in '01, so we've been back in December every year since. This year we're blessed to have some family come, our DGC will try to stay awake for a MVMCP! This trip is coming up soon!!! In a month and a half after that, I will try to stay awake for the NYE celebration December 31st:goodvibes

A happy memory, in fact 3 of them, is that I have a DGF who now lives in Florida, and she has a high schooler who has sung in the CP with her school. For 3 years, I've been able to go, and as great as the CP is, when you know someone in the choir, it's even better. This year she'll be singing December 8, and try as I may, I just can't justify going just to see her. The other years I was able to adjust plans a bit, but this year, we decided on the NYE celebration. I'll miss seeing Erin!

DMom's 85th birthday was December 22, 2004, and we had a great time, again, close to Christmas, but not quite there. That's the year we came back on December 23rd to the worst Blizzard Dayton (and mid-west, east) had seen in years and years in December. Does anyone else remember that? Luggage was a mess all over the country!

I'm praying for good weather as we travel down this year, on the 29th. Only 1 day was available for us to see CP..the 30th! As luck has it, we leave on January 2nd. Can't change that, and my birthday is January 3rd, so in the year of Birthday celebration with a gift from Disney to boot, I miss by one day! If we had planned to stay our DDogs would have to spend the whole weekend in the kennel, so it's a gift to my dogs, we're springing them on my birthday. That's fine too!

Christmas Day--never have and probably never will. Disney is great but that's a day to spend with our families.

With a 13 and a 6 YO, we haven't yet. As our daughter gets older, I'm sure we will. My husband is a teacher, and actually prefers going down in December versus Spring Break. However, he likes being "home" on Christmas day. I just have to get him to the point that Disney feels close enough to home to want to spend it there! All I can say is I am making progress! ;)

34 Days until my first trip to Disney during December. Plan on going to MVMCP and EPCOT Candle Light. Can't wait to see the Osborn lights in their full glory (saw a sneak preview of them once in Nov).

We are going 12/23-12/30. This will be our first time being there for Christmas. We are very excited. My DD16 is a Disney freak and has always said that she thought it would be cool to be in Disney for Christmas (actually wake up there Christmas morning).

We realize that the parks are really busy and usually close during the day as they fill to capacity, so if anybody has any suggestions for other things to do, I would love to hear them.

We have been once the first week in December. But I think your asking about Christmas week.

Maybe when the kids are in High School and things calm down on the whole Christmas morning thing.... I could see us going that week.

We went once December 23-29. Stayed at VWL and it was phenomenal. :thumbsup2

Had Christmas dinner at Liberty Tree Tavern and it was the perfect place for my family to enjoy the Christmas atmosphere.

I don't think we'll be back at Christmas in the future, but only because the points are so high at that time. We should have more flexibility in the future years to allow us to go earlier in December.

All in all, we truly enjoyed our Christmas at WDW. :santa:

Can't justify spending so many points over Christmas when all we have to do is wait 2 weeks and go in January.

In our "pre-DVC" days we went Dec 26th and stayed at the AllStar Movies. We would like to enjoy a DVC stay and see the Candlelight Processional on Christmas eve, but we are waiting until our 6 year old is a bit older and we would have less worries about the crowds. So we eventually plan to.

We spent Christmas at VWL last year. It was wonderful. My special memory......I volunteer with ESL people. And one girl in our class, young (to me!) who I didn't know well, told me she was going to Disney for Christmas. I told her that we were going also and swapped cell numbers. On Christmas day, she and her husband and young daughter came to see us at the Lodge. Their faces were priceless. It was a very special time. :goodvibes

Right now...just don't have the points to stay in the size unit I'd want.

Right now, we enjoy spending the week with our family, all of whom live in the area.

I know at some point, I'd love to experience Christmas Eve at Disney. I'd love to see Candlelight Processional on Christmas Eve.

I know the crowds are horrible and right now, it would just stress me out trying to keep track of my kids with all the people that are there.

But sometime, way in the future, I know I'd like to do it.

But I'd have to figure out how to bring my mom and my whole side of the family. My mom would literally have a meltdown if we all weren't with her on Christmas Eve.

We are going for the first time this year. We are leaving on Dec 26th, that way we are home Christmas morning. This year worked out for us with the kids vacation and it seemed the year to go if we were ever going to do it. Our kids will be 16 and 14 and are excited about being in Disney for NYE. We are staying at BCV Dec 28 - Jan 2nd. The Friday and Saturday nights before and after we are staying at the Holiday Inn as my husband has alot of points there and then we don't use DVC points.

We made the reservation 11 months out and went back and forth wether to go or not because of the crowds. Then we decided why not!:santa:

We will be at SSR Dec. 21-28 this year!!!!! We have been to WDW in Dec. a few other times (the last time in 2003 and DD who is now 14 says she doesn't really remember all of the decoratins so we are very excited) but never right on Christmas Day. We actually have friends from a different part of the country who will be at WDW at the same time and we will be having Christmas Day dinner with them at the Whispering Canyon at the the Wilderness Lodge! we will celebrate Christmas with my extended family after we get home.

We usually go during the first or second week of Dec. It's wonderful. The crowd levels are low and the decorations and Christmas activities are wonderful!

We did this almost exactly too but stayed at the lodge rather than the villas as we were not DVC members then. Absolutely amazing and maybe my favorite Christmas ever. We have not do it again yet but we definitely will in the future. We even added on 150 points to VWL just so we could go for Christmas. :woohoo:

The holiday points are outrageous... particularly the F/S nights. I'm fortunate as my parents have a beautiful home not 20 minutes down the road. We'll spend the holidays with them and stay DVC starting New Years Eve. Looking at the calendar though this is the last of many years where this plan will work out this well the way the days of the week fall in the future and school/work schedules.
