We're going to 'Ohana and I know it says its family style but do you have to sit with other people? It probably sounds stupid but we were suprised when we went to Biergarten and had to sit with another family. Just wondering.

We had our own table in April. Family style referred to the way food was served in large bowls/platters and then each person spooned their own food onto their own plate.

I did notice some tables in the middle of restaurant that seemed rather long and had a lot of people, but I just assumed it was large groups that wanted to pull tables together and dine, but maybe not???

We were a party of three and we had our own table. No worries.

This only occurs to my knowledge at Biergarten and the restaurant in Japan.

Thanks. We like being around people in the park but we kind of like a little break at dinner. Thanks for the reply.

We ate there for the first time last week. We had the table to ourselves (4 people) but when I asked about the two very large parties of people sitting not far front us (directly in front of the firepit/grill, so we assumed they'd reserved), the server told us that they were separate parties. 'Ohana wasn't completely full yet, so I guess those groups didn't have to share tables but probably did because they were centrally located.

I think "Family style" just means that they bring platters of food to your table, and everyone helps themselves. Kind of like you do at your own dinner table.
