Do you have to exchange paper tickets for credit card style ones?

We have some old non-expiring tickets that are paper. They have been added to our My Disney Experience account via the phone. But I forgot to ask if I can use them to enter parks and for fast passes, or if I will have to go to the ticket counter to exchange them? Does anyone know?

You will have to exchange them before you enter the park. Only hard, plastic RFID tickets and MagicBands work at the entrance tapstiles.

I have some old tickets (they were a step up from paper...credit card style, but they were generic comped tickets and not associated with my account). They told me I'd have to exchange them at an info desk. I'm not sure if that meant at the hotel or at the parks.

Yes you must exchange them. "Paper" tickets cannot be used at the gates, much less to redeem Fastpasses.

That's if you don't already have a Magic Band.

If you have MBs then you won't have to exchange them, as long as the MBs and the old tickets are all linked to your MDE account. On my last trip I never needed to bother to exchange my old "paper" tickets since I just used my MB. However, I have a few "paper" tickets that have no theme park days, just WPF&M entitlements, left on them, so I'll have to change them up for newer tickets before I can use them.

DS has an old (2005) non-expiring ticket with three days left on it. It's on the KTTW card from that particular trip. Can I piggy back onto this thread and ask what we need to do with it to make it usable?

He isn't sure if he is going next year or not. If it needs to be converted into an RFID ticket is that something *I* can do when I am there in December? Or does HE need to do it himself since he is an adult now?
