Do you have to check in to activate MBs?

We are transferring from Pop to AKL, we were wondering if it is necessary to check in to AKL, or just transfer our luggage with bell services and check in later after we return from the park for the day?

Once the MB's are made active (at the first resort) they will allow park entry throughout the trip (as long as tickets hold out.)

Robo,
I'm assuming you definitely have to check in for the park tickets to be active? You just can't drive to the park and check in later right ?

It has been discussed by CM members of the DISboards that "PACKAGE tickets"
(those obtained via a WDW resort room reservation) need to be activated before they can be used to enter a park.

Those tickets CAN be activated at resort check-in -OR- (up to three days BEFORE resort check-in) by going to a guest relations outside any park and showing your resort info.

So, if you stop by a guest relations, you can go into a park before checking in, even that same day.

I thought you could use tickets before physically checking in, but not any other resort package components (room access, dining plan). But on a package, you cannot use any of it until you physically check in at the resort? I don't book packages, so I haven't tried. Does make sense, so the guest can't use the tickets long before the rest of the package.

So then could we just skip Magical Express and hop a cab right to the TTC? Since we don't see our luggage anyway, that would go directly to the WL? Does that make sense? I mean it's kind of silly but is it doable?

I'm uncertain what might happen with your luggage if you don't
check in with DME.

I thought you could use tickets before physically checking in...

That would have been my assumption, too.

But in multiple posts in recent months, it has been stated a number of times by a WDW Ticket CM
that resort package tickets must be activated at (or prior to) resort check-in.

And, since it is so easy to stop by a guest relations to do so, I'm not going to worry too much about it until I
hear multiple firsthand reports to the contrary.
