Do you have to buy your AP at WDW to get DVC discount?

Is there any way to order your annual pass ahead of your visit if you want the DVC discount? I'm just thinking that I'd like to get it in the form of a voucher so that I protect myself from a price increase before we actually arrive. Anyone know if this is possible?

Of course! Just order it on the DVC web site. Or if it's not working -- as it often does not -- you can order it through Member Services.

I always do that. They will mail you an exchange voucher and you can pick up your AP whenever you go there.

MS also told me that they can arrange it so that you can do a Will Call for AP's and pick them up at Guest Relations if there isn't enough time to mail them.

The thing is, you aren't actually getting your APs when you order ahead of time. You're getting a voucher, which you then need to take to a PARK guest relations to trade for your actual ticket. NOT a resort, you have to go to one of the parks or DD. So, I'm kinda at a loss as to what the advantage is. We had to stand in a wicked long line at the Epcot guest relations to trade them in.

This year I'm not bothering to order ahead of time -- if I have to stand in line anyway I'm just going to get them when I get there. Unless someone can point to an advantage of having the voucher early (besides needing it for discounts, etc.).

Buying now would lock in the price to today's rate. Also will allow you to advance order DDE if you planned to do that. You don't have to go to Guest relations at EPCOT, you can do it at the ticket booth at the International Gateway if you are staying at BWV or BCV, usually not much of a line. I believe you can get processed faster because they have all you info ahead of time. Just make sure you bring your Blue Member's card and photo ID.

We didn't have a long line to wait in when we redeemed ours at AK. Plus, we were very lucky, we beat that last price increase because we had the voucher!
