Do You Have to Break-In Crocs?

I never wear new shoes to Disney of course. Always broke tennis shoes in for at least a month and the last couple trips I brought newer Crocs that I wore for 3-4 weeks before going. I just ordered a new pair of Crocs online that aren't going to arrive until about week before we go, wondering if you need to break in Crocs like tennis shoes? I'm going to bring another older pair too, but the bottoms are worn and it makes them slippery on wet pavement.

I don't think you need to break them in but I find that they can give blisters after not wearing them for a while, especially in the spots that have the little fasteners where the strap attaches on the sides. I'd bring bandaids just in case. There's nothing worse than blisters on vacation!!

Before our trip, I broke my Crocs in by wearing them out walking a few times. They didn't need as much breaking-in as my tennis shoes. I brought both the tennis shoes and the Crocs on the trip and ended up preferring the Crocs.

Other than the fasteners on the classic crocs, has anyone experienced new-shoe issues w/ other croc footwear?

You have to be soooo careful when they wear down, I almost went for a trip a few times I was very sad to have to retire my Disney pair

I have Caymans (the regular style Crocs), Mary Janes (and Minnie Janes ), Mamouths and Nadia boots. The only ones that cause blisters are the Mary and Minnie Janes, it could be because I have wide feet and they are quite narrow plus they have a lot more contact with your foot but a couple of band aids does the trick

When we went on one of our trips, I took a brand new pair of Crocs Cleos with me (they're more of a sandal, not the traditional style.) I intended only to wear them to the pool, not to the parks. I took two other pairs of shoes that I thought were broken in. The first several days (in my tennis shoes) my feet and back were killing me. I tried the other pair of shoes and they were no better. It was awful.

My husband convinced me to try the Crocs because "how much worse could I feel." THey were *so* much better than the other shoes -- and I'd never worn them *at all* before heading to the parks. Now they're my shoe of choice for the parks.

My Crocs flip flops were my shoe of choice for our 11 day trip to WDW. Walked for miles in them and had no foot issues. I loved them!

I did wear them just a bit beforehand. Only to get my toes adjusted to the strap.

I dont think they need to "broken in" per se....but more like your feet need to get used to them, if you've never worn them.

Brand new Crocs have a little bumps on the foot bed (to massage your feet) and they take just a little getting used to when they are new.

I've worn Crocs for a few years and gone through several pair and any time I start wearing a new paid..they feel "different" for an hour or two. After that, they're fine.

I have to break them in due to the massaging spots...I get blisters if I don't. I wear them around the house with thin socks for at least a few days and then start wearing them without socks. I still put moleskin on the ball of my foot at WDW, for long days, even when they're broken in due to my problem feet. If you are prone to blisters I'd suggest breaking them in...no sense taking chances and suffering with soreness. You will find that they are really comfortable. I have several different styles and love Cleo...I have several pairs of this style. They don't look like traditional Crocs, which I'm not keen on for myself.

I know how you feel, I have a navy pair of Mickey Crocs that are ready for retirement too. I love them and I'm hoping for find a new pair at WDW since you can't get them on the website anymore.

The new Crocs I'm getting are clog style called Baya in a nice plum color and a navy pair called Specialist that don't have the holes. I can't wear the flip flops, I just don't like the toe thing. The clog style is definitely the most comfortable to me. I've never had any issues with them, but never have worn a brand new pair to WDW. I will have them at least a few days before we go though so it sounds like they'll be fine if I just wear them a couple days before.

I wore crocs in Oct 2007; with socks - and never had any issues. I also wear the strap forward; accept on those rides I thought they could fall off.

I LOVE starting a Disney vacation with new crocs! Nothing feels as good on the feet as new Mickey crocs that you bought at the outlet for a deep discount LOL!
That being said, I did get teeny tiny blisters on the sides of my baby toes, but they didn't really hurt- they were just a nuisance.

Update - I received my first pair of Croc flips-flops in the mail. While they didn't make it in time for my trip to the World this past weekend, I am wearing them today - and no breaking-in is needed for the flip flops. They do feel a bit weird - but in a good way.

I have a couple pairs of Scutes and I LOVE them! They are sort of like a flip flop but have a 3" wide band across the top instead of a strap between your toes. They only time I have ever had a problem was when I wore them on a long walk for the first time this season (have had them a couple of years) on a super hot, muggy day and got a blister. Lesson learned - get your feet used to them after not wearing them all winter!

If you Google "Crocs codes" you will find a bunch of stuff. There is almost always a free shipping code out there for all orders no matter the total. I haven't read all of the replies here, but wanted to say 100% YES you DO have to break Crocs in for Disney. I also would suggest putting a thing layer of stick deodorant on your heels and toes before wearing them in the parks (or any other shoes for that matter). It forms an invisible barrier so you are less likely to getting blisters. I used to have a horrendous time with my feet years ago while at Disney. Once I read about this trick on the DIS, I have yet to get one ten trips later!!!

I agree that it depends on the style....I have given away a few because they were just not comfortable. However, I do love my Mickey Crocs and my Mary James, and just ordered my first pair of cleos, can't wait to get them!

I love crocs and have never had a problem with the regular ones....however!!!
the flip flop ones left me nearly disabled a few trips back. our first park day I wore them to AK and wore them on Kali river rapids. due to my feet and the crocs getting wet I developed huge blisters on both feet around the toe divide :-(. I couldn't wear them after that and even though I was in better shoes the rest of the week I was hobbling every day by lunchtime from these blisters.
so.... my advice would be, and I do this with all open shoes now and water rides... take a flannel to dry your feet after the ride and dry your shoes, although I don't think I have worn flip flops again on a Kali day.
regular crocs though are awesome for the parks
