Hi We are a family of 5 travelling to Orlando in2 weeks time, for the retaurants like Planet Hollywood or T rex do you have to book in advance or Is there normally spaces on an evening ? We don't know which nights we will be there at DTD so would rather be spontaneous and not tied
Thanks

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe you can make reservations for those restaurants, but they are a tiny bit easier to just walk up to and get in than the TS restaurants in the parks.

When we went last year, we did not have reservations, but were able to eat at Rainforest Cafe. If we wanted an indoor table where all the "scenery" is, it would've been at least an hour wait. We opted to sit outdoors and were seated immediately.

The line at T-Rex was HUGE! No way we would've gotten in there anytime soon. Not sure if that has died down any in the year since we were there or if it's still jammin'. :confused3

We are locals and frequently drop by DTD for a meal without a reservation. We've never had a problem with this whether it's at House of Blues, T-Rex, Rainforest, etc. However, there are only 2 of us. With a family of 5, it's probably much easier if you just make an ADR.

At Planet Hollywood, reservations are fairly easy to get, but they have a lot of walk-ups, so the line is often pretty long at dinner time.

for T-Rex, similar, but reservations are often easier to get by contacting them directly.

One place that's fairly easy to get in to is Fulton's. Reason? No dining plan! (for now - they're looking into it for the future)

Each time we went to the Rainforest Cafe we always walked in, however that's because we always went between 4:00 PM - 4:30 PM so we would avoid any of their long waits for a table.

In August 2008 we made an ADR for dinner at Fultons Crab House however when we walked in they weren't busy and etc, so chances are we didn't need the ADR. However since they are not on the Disney Dining Plan that could have been the reason why they weren't busy.

If you are eating after 5:30 at T-Rex, you should make an ADR. We had our ADR at 5:30 and would have had no trouble being seated without it. However, when we were leaving we heard that the wait was an hour and a half.
