Do you have family members that have only lived in one zip code all their life?

For me....yes:
one of my brothers
one of my sisters
and my DH

.....all over 60.

Not a good or bad thing....just wondering. It was our discussion over coffee this morning with said brother and my DH. 🏠

Yes. My mom. The house she grew up in, the apt she lived in for the first years of her marriage and then into the house she bought in the 60s in which she still lives. This is all within walking distance to one another (and a short walk at that).

Well I have lots of farmers in my family. They all still live in the same community so probably the same postal code.

kind of. the area all had one zip code but little chunks incorporated themselves and as a result the post office assigned new zip codes along with the new city names.

Me, really. Excepting my first year in Rhode Island, I have only ever lived in the house I live in now or just about a mile down the road in another house. This is where I belong.

Yes, 3 or my 4 grandparents lived in the same town their whole lives. There were also a handful of families in the town I grew up in that had been in that town for several generations so there were dozens of people that I knew/knew of that had only ever lived in one zip code.

Not family, but the majority of people I went to High School with have never left our home town. I feel sorry for them.

I would say my parents, except my Dad spent time in the Naval Reserves so he was stationed in Philadelphia and Virginia for a time. And my Mom, except for her years at college in Buffalo.

I moved here at 3 but my dad grew up here and only left for work. I went to college in another state, came back and lived in neighboring towns for about 6 years that were a little less expensive, but moved back in 1995. There are a lot who stay or come back, generation after generation, a lot who leave or never come back can’t afford to live here.

Yes. I can think of three family members off hand. Though one passed away. I also know several non-family members too, which I am mentioning as two of them are in their nineties now so have been in one town a long time now.

In laws. Both were born and grew up in the town they live in. They are living on land MIL's parents gave them when they got married so MIL is living on part of the same land she grew up on. BIL and his family are living on land MIL's parents gave him.

My ex-husband has lived in the county his entire life. His house is about 5 miles away from where he grew up.

I'm close to it. My family moved 1 county over to the house I'm currently living in when I was 6 months old. I'm 37 now. I did go away for college and live in the dorms. But then I cam back home, and haven't left. Ha! It's my oldest brother (who has moved multiple times), my mom, and me. We help each other out, and it works well for us.

Read the post after mine and realized something. I can NOT say that I have lived in the same zip code since I was 6 months old (except for college) even though I've lived in the same HOUSE since I was 6 months old. The area I'm living in was annexed. So I've changed city, zip code, and (separate change) area code for the land line all without physically moving. :D (That's a fun one for fun facts/trivia).
