Reading online today, I noted two celebrities that have passed and both lived here in my city.

Evangelist Oral Roberts, founder of the Oral Roberts Evangelistic Association and Oral Roberts University, died Tuesday from complications of pneumonia in Newport Beach, California, his spokeswoman said. He was 91.

Roy E. Disney, who had been battling stomach cancer, died at Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian in Newport Beach, according to Clifford A. Miller, a spokesman for Disney's company Shamrock Holdings.

I don't think we have any celebs LIVING in Cedar Rapids (because really, why would they? ) But, it's the hometown for several notable people..

I believe so. Bobby Cox's 'Atlanta' residence is just 5 miles away from me. I know there are more here, but it just doesn't matter much and I don't keep track.

And there are several that live down the road in Atlanta.

Not that I know of, but I'd guess that if there were any, they wouldn't be advertising themselves.

I am pretty sure that some celebrities have their children living here in my town...right down the street from me is a $$$$$$ Prep School and at different times I've heard about different students who live on campus and go to school there.

I live in a small town in NC, but both Kevin Harvick (race car driver) and Chris Daughtry live about a mile from my house. There houses may only be a mile a away but they are lightyears different in size!!!!

I did back in NY, not so much here. The people who consider themselves "celebrities" in Atlanta are mostly POSERS!!

Here in Savannah we have Paula Deen of course, and all of her clan. I have seen each of them: Paula, Michael, Jaime (w/family) and Bobby at different times at the Publix grocery store near my house. Once I saw Michael at Golden Corral. John Mellancamp and Sandra Bullock both own homes on Tybee Island, Greg Allman lives in Richmond Hills, and I have heard that Oprah has a house on Tybee also. All of these are Savannah area. We have all the characters portrayed in "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil"-Lady Chablis, Jim Williams, etc, and Johnny Mercer. Every once in a while I drive over "Moon River". It's really here!

Prez George H.W. Bush and wifey Babs live here.

Some rappers: Chamillionaire, Paul Wall, some others I don't know.

Mary Lou Retton and family.

Lots of famous peeps are from Houston, but when they hit the big time they're outa here.

Nooohohoho. Not in my lil' ol' town, But not far away is Mooresville/Lake Norman, NC where many NASCAR driver's live. Also, as someone mentione dupthread, Chris Daughtry isn't far away and Fantasia Barino too.

Celebs that I've actually seen here in my little town:

Paul Wylie, the Olympic mens' figure skating silver medal winner in 1992, lives in Charlotte- he coaches skaters here in Indian Trail at Extreme Ice Center. Saw him while skating there with DD and a friend- I tried not to stare! I'm a big figure skating geek.

Former televangelist Tammy Faye Messner (formerly Bakker) lived here in Charlotte until her death from lung cancer. We used to see her around- she was very nice. Her daughter lives in my town, so she was here a lot.

I know of a couple who are from citys near me..President Gerald Ford (our nearest international airport is named after him) from Grand Rapids, Michigan and Derek Jeter is from Kalamazoo, about 1/2 hour away from me.
