Do you have an ice cream truck that drives through your neighborhood?

And if you do, does he stop long enough for anyone to buy any ice cream?

We have an ice cream truck that comes through our neighborhood once a day. Great. However, we never know what time he is coming because it changes every day. On top of that, he never seems to slow down, nevermind stop. Doesn't he want to sell ice cream?

We can hear the truck's music a few minutes before he careens around our corner, but unfortunately we haven't been fast enough to get out the door and actually catch him.

Do we have the only neighborhood with a drive-by ice cream truck?:confused3

Same here! :lmao:

We'll hear him coming down our hill then - VROOM - he's gone like the wind! When I was a kid, we'd have time to run out of the house, flag them down, and wait for our parents to come out with money. Whoever drives by our neighborhood must hate kids.

We have one that stops by our apartment complex. It isn't regular, I think he only comes on days his neighborhoods have been slow. He will go to each parking lot and stop for about 5-10 minutes, with his music going.

When I was a child my neighborhood had a Polar-Cup truck that came every day around 4pm. We all knew his regular time, he even had running raffles and games to involve the kids from day-to-day. We would hear him one or two streets back then get out to the corner. If he arrived early or late he would drive REAL slow around our cul-de-sac (taking 3-4 minutes) and then move on. I think the bulk of his business came from showing up at the same time every day. I used my allowance to get polar cups almost every day between 3rd to 5th grade.

If you asked that question before I read the dis - I would say that ice cream trucks exist only in fiction books and movies. I have never ever heard of a real ice cream truck actually still driving around in Iowa in the last 50 years.

Now I know different - but I've still never seen on IRL.

No ice cream trucks in my neighborhood... :( My poor child is deprived of the experience.

We have one that has stopped in front of my house every day since late May at about 5 o'clock. He really does stop and lots of people buy.

Mr Softee comes by everyday:cool1: Sometimes twice a day and he will always stop!! In fact, he should be by at around 9 tonight and I think I'll let the kids get a treat!!

We have an icee truck that comes around every single NIGHT at 8pm!!!! I don't know about the other kids in the neighborhood, but my kids are in BED then!! And even if there not asleep yet - 8pm is WAY to late for such a sugary snack!

same here.

Whenever I watch a cop show where they need to have cops positioned undercover, one of them is always the ice cream truck man.

Maybe they just do a quick drive-by as a security/surveillance for the neighborhood? :drive: :confused3

:lmao::rotfl2: We do! I swear it's a race against the clock trying to get my shoes on and dd's, grab money, run out and catch him. Why on earth do they make it so hard? I feel like I did great when I do actually track him down and make a purchase - so proud of myself. I guess I'm a pretty low achiever. :rotfl: :lmao:

We have many ice cream trucks that come around- Mr softee usually comes between 930-10pm and there are plenty of parents and kids out there buying ice cream in the summer- kids are stll outside playing after 9pm!
Many times we hang out outside playing until the ice cream man comes- we buy ice cream and then head inside for the night.

Yes, we have one, and he also races through the neighborhood!!

But he also kinda scares me.

We have one that comes through my neighborhood in Cedar Rapids .. but outside of me and my fiance, everyone in our condo association is over 75 years old and stays inside, so I doubt he gets much business.

We have them here too, and yes they are quick. My sister and I think they are under-cover as drug dealers  Not really, but they could be since they drive away and never wait for me to get my big butt off the couch to order my favorite choc/banana ice cream  Of course if I wanted to get my drugs I'd be to slow for that too

The ice cream truck with music and everything around here likes to comes around my block when I'm trying to nap. I don't know how he does it, but he just knows when I'm about to fall asleep.

Believe it or not, we have an ice cream MOTORCYCLE that comes through our neighborhood:lmao: Seriously, he has a little trailer thing on the back of his motorcycle full of ice cream and he has the music going too.

:rotfl: I don't think so. I actually saw a kid with a snow cone one day shortly after the truck raced through the neighborhood. I'm assuming the kid somehow managed to flag down the truck and get the driver to stop.

The truck doesn't stick around long enough to witness any crimes being committed. And, now that I think about it, this is a gated community. How does he get in?:confused3

The Mr. Ding-a-Ling truck stops near my house every evening. I have to listen to "Pop Goes The Weasel" for at least 10 minutes every day. Wish he didn't stop so often.
