Do you have a rice cooker?

I have the wolfgang puck one from HSN. Love it. I give it as a gift all the time. It does so much more then rice. I can make the best mac n cheese in it. it comes apart for easy cleaning as well.

Is this stainless steel or non stick where the rice cooks?
I am leaning toward stainless, but I am sure it would be harder to clean.

eta, I just noticed in the description it says non stick. I didn't see that before :)

I am going to have to look into one. Ever since we moved into this house I can't cook rice. The gas stove is always too hot and it sticks to the bottom no matter how hard I try.

We love ours. Though we've only used it for rice, it's a combo rice cooker, deep fryer, slow cooker. We got it as a gift years ago. I'll look up the name and post later. The inside is coated so we've never had a problem with clean up. It makes far better rice than we can make on the stove.

Pampered Chef - goes in the microwave. The rice is perfect (and I'm picky since I lived in Japan for a year) and it works for a variety of other recipies as well. I made a great lava cake with it!

Is it a rice cooker or the microwave steamer? I love my Pampered Chef steamer but to cook rice or a lava cake would be great!

I have a rice cooker- bought it at costco. The lid snaps down. I've also cooked meat and veggies in it. It's great! Well worth the $40!

I use the microwave directions on the rice box. So much easier then a pot on the stove and my rice comes out great every time. Give it a try. The directions are one cup of rice, 2 cups of water in a covered glass dish (medium sized pyrex is best) cook on high for 5 min, then cook on 50% power for 15 min.

It is non stick, very easy to clean. The lid even comes off for easy cleaning. I also bought the recipe book taht you can get with it. I have made cake in it one pot pasta, ribs. It does all kinds of things. I love mine as well as my grandma, mother, aunt, step sisters, and my step mom, and MIL. I bought them all one as well.

If yours is difficult to clean, you have the wrong kind!

I have a Zojirushi. I have had it for 8 years and use it at least a couple of times per week. The bowl comes out and pops in the dishwasher and is DONE cleaning!

Love it! Our only problem is that when we bought it we only had two very young children who didn't eat much. We now have 3 older boys who eat a LOT, so we may need a larger one!

I used to have a cheap plastic microwave one that I bought at Walgreen's for less than 10 bucks. It got lost in a move and I haven't replaced it yet, but I loved that thing.

Same here! I also use my Saladmaster electric skillet to make all kinds of things (lasagna, casseroles, even cake). I like my kitchen appliances to be multi-talented.

I hear you!!!

Love the Saladmaster!! I have given up trying to explain to friends that stainless is just as easy to clean as non stick---and without the suspicious chemicals---but, I always end up sounding like I am trying to sell something:rotfl:

Do you ever throw in a garlic or onion bouillion cube with the water when you make rice? I adore that trick, it makes the rice so full of flavor!!

We splurged on a Panasonic fuzzy logic rice cooker ($120 on Amazon) a few years ago and it is worth every penny. Perfect rice every time, keeps it hot and moist for hours (great for big gatherings or when I don't know when DH is getting home), and I literally just wipe the pot with a wet paper towel to clean it.

It also makes great steel cut oats and has been getting a lot of use for steaming veggies now that DS(6mos) is eating solids.

Pampered Chef has 3 different once, a microwaveable rice cooker, and 2 sizes of veggie steamers.. This is the rice cooker

I have the Aroma 10 cup rice cooker/food steamer from Target. I use it about once a week. It also steams pork buns really well.

I can't make rice on the stove to save my life.
