I am tossing around the idea of going to Disney over spring break again. LOVE the F & G time. We went in 2013 and 2012 and didn't think the crowds were that bad. We were even there Easter week.

Will probably book a studio... for myself, hubby and 15 year old. The only resorts that are showing availability are SSR, AK Kidani, BW and OKW. We have actually stayed in studios in all 3 except BW we stayed in a 2 br our very first DVC stay. I love the two beds at OKW. Do you have a preference.

We could also stay in a 1 br. if I want to splurge with the points.

I almost always stay at BWV for F&G. We do own there, so I always get standard view to save points. If you are there over weekends there are Flower Power Concerts, and BWV ( and BCV) are so convenient for the return home!:goodvibes

I'm having a gals F&G get together next May!:hippie:

For location I'd do BWV and wait list standard view if not available as long as the teen is OK with a pullout. That option gives you walking possibilities and the boat and more flexibility for the 15 y/o.

Now not all the days are available..so it looks like OKW, Kidani or SSR are our choices.

You could still wait list and if you have enough points, you could reserve one, take any days available at BW and WL the remaining days.

Of your choices, I would rank them:

(1) BWV - location, location, location
(2) AKV - animals, nice pool
(3) SSR - spread out, but OK. I like the quick service restaurant.
(4) OKW - I *hate* the 2 beds. It makes the studio fell a lot smaller. I much prefer a fold out couch than can be folded up during the day.

Of course, a 1BR would be roomier but for our family of 3 (with a 15-year old) studios work just fine.

We booked BWV for F & G week of March 15th. We were only able to get a standard view for 2 nights, the other 5 nights are pool/garden view. We waitlisted standard view for the entire time and hope it comes through. With 4 1/2 months to go, hoping for the best!

I booked the first 2 nights in a garden/pool view room at BWV, wait listed that 3rd night which is a Sunday, then booked the next 2 nights. So I am HOPING that Sunday comes available giving us 5 nights at BWV. Then I am going to book the last 3 nights at probably SSR. I could try to wait list those same nights at BWV too I guess so we would NOT have to move.

We have ONLY stayed in a studio for ONE night at OKW but I thought the room was really big for a studio. All of OKW studios/villas are much bigger than other resorts.

Do you have enough points to book both while wait listing? If so you could avoid the split stay possibility.

I could do that..yes.
As an aside, this type of approach is one way that buying a larger points number than needed can be very helpful. I don't normally suggest people buy extra and possibly have to rent out but one can make the case for it with options like this. It can also a reason to consider multiple master contracts to get more transfer and WL options as well as add another home resort(s) options for some. In general I still think not overbuying is best and having them all together is best for most but for those that are adventuresome and willing to throw some extra effort and money at DVC to get ahead of others, these options are on the table.

I agree w/ this and do it frequently. We didn't overbuy, per se, but we have enough points coupled w/ the way we plan makes this possible.

We have two home resorts. We have two contracts at VWL with a UY of Sept. and another contract at SSR with a UY of Oct. :thumbsup2
