Do you guys take your kids outa school to go to wdw

I do take DD out of school - normally try and tag on to an existing holiday. A few times we have flown before Christmas - I really don't think they do that much in the run up to the holiday - we have never had a problem.

Just think it will de a different story when she starts comprehensive in a few years.

We are fast approaching the comprehensive years, and I'm wondering whether it is still ok to let DD miss a week after October half term. I have always thought we would stop our October trip when she starts big school, but as the time draws near, I am less sure.

It sounds very selfish, but we have taken our annual holiday at this time of year for the last 15 years or so, and I can't think that I would want to go away at any other time of year :sad2: It is suddenly becoming a much harder decision. Of course I wouldn't consider it during important exam years, but other years, I am less sure. Just wondered what others think / have done themselves?

The last time we took them out during proper term time was when my eldest was in the first year of seniors. We have taken them out from then in not proper term time and by this I mean the last week of summer term because the week was spent doing 'fun' things at school and not on serious work, though this changed at the 'AS' level stage as proper work is done right to the end of term.

I would not be too worried taking them out as long as they were not in a year that had exams or coursework. When my lads were at school the exam work/coursework was based over the last 2 years at senior school. They had mock exams in the January then real exams in May/June.

At AS levels exams were held after Christmas then May/June time and the same at A2, plus now at Uni level.

It does become increasingly harder to take them out during term time because of exam/coursework/revision all happening throughout the year.

Hi - our primary school doesn't have a problem, but already have heard from parents at the 2 local senior ones - parents have to sign up to not take kids out for holidays in term time, at all......

So this will be our first and last time....
