Do You Grocery Shop Online?

I just ordered groceries from Peapod for the first time. My delivery is coming tomorrow. I found the prices are the same as in the store and while there is a delivery fee of 9.95 (minus the 1.50 for my delivery time), it seems worth it. I don't have to bag my groceries at the store since they don't have baggers, I don't have that impulse to buy other things and I don't have to take DS with me! Oh, and I keep forgetting some things so I can go back in and add to my order until later tonight :teeth:

A question though..do you tip the driver? If so, how much? My order was $70.00. TIA :)

I usually tip the peapod guy $10. My orders are usually really big though, $250-$300.

I love peapod, it's so easy to put away too because they separate everything. Frozen foods together, dairy together, produce...

I've never purchased groceries online, there are so many stores close by my house. I'm not sure what the proper percentage of a tip would be for the driver, but if your bill is $70.00, I'd say $7 is fair. :)

I love Peapod. There are some other easy ways to reduce the fee.

If you buy more than $100 worth of groceries, the fee is only $5. You'll also get some discount coupons after your first order. You can use them for your next 4 orders.

You mentioned how you can get money off for using the larger delivery windows. You can also get $1 off for using direct debit rather than credit.

I did find some coupon codes for first timers if anyone is interested. I used one for my order:

10 off coupon

I have about eight grocery stores within 10 minutes of my house. This just seems more convenient for us right now ;)

I wish we had peapod delivery here. I think I would save a lot of money without impluse shopping. Once the baby gets here I think it would be ALOT easier to do my shopping online rather than trying to either do it with baby or wait until the weekend when it's busier but DH will be home with baby.

I absolutely hate grocery shopping, so I was thrilled when Peapod came to my area! It's the best thing since sliced bread! For us, the cost ends up about the same. I think it's because I'm not buying the impulse items. I can shop just from my list.

I try to tip the driver about 10%. Usually it's about $10.00-$12.00. I consider it money well spent since they bring the groceries right into the kitchen. All I have to do is put them away.

Oh, and the quality of fresh produce and meats seems to be better. Even if I order the packaged tomatoes, they'll open the package and check the tomatoes. I've not received a bad one yet!

I love it!
