Do you give your childcare person thank you gifts?

School is out in a week (!!!!) and I was wanting to thank my friend for watching Sam. DH says her pay shoud be enough, but she is a good friend. Should I get her something? How much should I spend? Just a thank you card?

I would get her a small token, maybe a candle or plant or gift cert. If your DH is like mine, he never wants to give gifts to anyone!!

I don't use childcare; however, I believe that any gift would be greatly appreciated. It will make her feel special. Many times childcare workers are ignored and taken for granted. It would be a sweet gesture.

I am a childcare provider and I have gotten many thankyou gifts throughout the years. Anything from, flowers, jewelry, candles, gift certificates..all were greatly appreciated!! I think hand written Thank you notes are one of my favorite. It is so nice when they parents write a note letting me know how much they appreciate what I do.

When my kids were babies and cared for in a private home by a lady who was like a Grandmother to them, I always gave her a small percentage of my annual bonus. I truly felt that without her help providing so much TLC to my kids, I would have not been able to earn that bonus. It was wonderful having someone taking care of my babies and never having to fret if they were o.k. or not. She took care of me and my family, and I felt like I wanted t do the same for her.

My kids are in aftercare now in a childcare facility where there are many teachers and assistants. At the end of the year, I give them each a small gift, or one large gift for the center.

every Christmas I give her 50.00. It isn't much, but it's a lot more than others do.
