We have nieces and nephews who are 25, 22, 21 and 20 (plus younger ones). I guess it hasn't occured to us to stop sending gifts.
The two older ones are my sister's kids. The 25 year old is an impoverished high school drop out who is way psychologically messed up, thanks to my sister's "parenting". I'll probably always send him checks for birthday and Christmas.
The 22 year old is my terrific niece who is a college senior and who has been literally on her own since before she graduated from high school. Again, I like having an excuse to send her money, because she works so hard to do well against the odds.
