Do You Get Immediate Access To the AP Site If You Purchase It Online...

You can still get the AP7 (or whatever) rates without having the pass yet. That's what I did. Just call and ask for the AP7 rate. All you will need when you check in is your voucher. In my case, I asked them to add an AP to my hotel reservation.

Hi DizMe,

Thanks for the specifics on this... it's exactly what I need to know.

I have already made my reservation for Feb. and added the AP to the hotel reservation... as you did.

Since I won't have access to the special AP room rate discount info yet, it appears that I'll need to keep an eye out here for people to post about a (potential) AP8 rate here. I'll then call and make a new reservation!

Hope they offer an AP8 in Feb.! Has anyone traditionally noticed any specific patterns on when they offer the special rates like this? Obviously the off-seasons, but any specific patterns?

Ah! So sorry--should have paid more attention! :rolleyes1

But what if you cannot use it by the use by date? does that mean that you are to take a complete loss on the AP? I am a bit confused.

Good question. I wonder that too. I mean, I assume that when people purchase an AP online or in advance, they have some idea of when they may go to DLR, and it would probably be soon. Of course, some unforeseen circumstances can occur and prevent that from happening. Disney does seem to give people a pretty wide window of time in which to use the AP for the first time. I think it was Lisa or another poster who said she got the AP in August and had until January to use it for the first time. That is a good chunk of time. I could see where there may be a problem if you got the AP and then had to use it in two weeks, but five months is pretty long. I don't know for sure, but I would imagine you do lose the money completely. I would be curious to hear if that has happened to anyone who has not been able to use to AP within five months and whether or not a refund was given.

Couple months ago a Dis'er noticed that her husband's voucher was expired, and I think she called, and it was NOT a big deal. They honored it.

Now I think if the price had increased in the meantime you'd have to pay the difference, but that wasn't something that affected the Dis'er at that time.

Wow. That is good to know. Not that I foresee that being my situation, but I imagine it does happen to people every now and then, and it is good to know the AP will be honored.
