Do you get free stuff when you take a DVC tour if you are already a DVC member?

I just read someone else's report on the Budget Board saying that, for a DVC tour, she got 4 Q&C vouchers, and her kids who went with them got small toys or stuff animals.

I don't believe she is a member yet. However, since I am already a DVC member, should I be expecting to get the same stuff if I do a tour?

When I talked to my guides earlier, I did not get impression that I will get anything.

But if a non-DVC member can get some goodies by touring, shouldn't they at least give me the same since I bought it sight unseen and I am still a potential customre for more points?

I am asking this question so that I know what to expect when I do a tour. I don't want to feel disappointed if this is an exception versus the norm.

Thanks so much.

:D

We toured with my sister and her husband in May and didn't receive anything. We even added on 100 points. When we signed the paperwork later in the week they did give us a Vero lithograph. The only thing that we did get during the tour was free soda and cookies.

When we were down in November, we stopped at the BCV and asked if we could see the sample unit. We had to sign a sheet and they let us go in and look around on our own. We got a BVC pin.

We didn't tour, but went into the office to ask a question, and received a bag of cotton candy for each of our 4 kids, plus taffy for the adults :)

Funny this should come up I was thinking about this the other day when we were planning on stopping by to meet our DVC rep (we bought sight unseen).

Heres hoping we get something :)

Ouch-this is a sore point! When I signed up to take the DVC tour before I joined, I was promised fast passes but never received them, even after I joined and reminded my guide that he still owed me the fast passes. So I'd be really surprised to get something now for free.

Simba's Mom: I would keep asking. I don't let things like that get by me any more. BTW how was your recent trip?

We bought sight unseen, then went down and took the tour. We didn't get anything -- could have used a Coke, as they are $2.50 in the parks...

We received a small handful of leftover from last season DVC pins when touring the BCV this summer. In the past, some of theKiosks used to hand out all sorts of promo items.

I got 2 big handfulls of squat!

I would have been thrilled with a napkin.

I wil call my guide and see what he says:(

Lynderella, my trip to the BCV was great! I just loved the BCV. Being able to walk through WS in the morning before it opens, sitting on a bench listening to the Epcot music. Sitting on my balcony in the morning, or at night during the bombing of Epcot (actually the fireworks, which are terrific up close but from my balcony it sounded like the bombing of Epcot), sitting in a rocking chair on the porch of the Beach Club with my No Way Jose Sundae. On my next solo trip, I'll definitely go back to BCV.

When we went to the sales office in August, there was soda and lemonade as well as cookies & cotton candy. We asked for a video and the promotional book (we loaned ours out and never got it back) and they gave them to us. But that was it. We did get the backback and BCV litho in the mail for our 150pt BCV add-on though.

When i was there in October, i walked over to just see the new BCV model and when i left, the guide that was there gave me a ton of salt water taffy and more cotton candy than i could carry. He had to give me a nice DVC plastic bag to put it all in and it was jammed to the top. He said to share it with my kids but i managed to squirrel alot of it away myself, lol.

Update,

I did call my guide today and he told me that what they give out is out of his control. He says that sometimes if you tour around lunch time, to make up for the time you otherwise would have lunch, they would give out the meal vouchers, but it is completely up to the DVC rep at the kiosk who works for their marketing department.

If we get around to it, I will see if we can tour around lunch time and see what happens. However, knowing my luck, I will probably not get anything :(

I've toured 3 times since I bought and never got anything. I bought over the phone, so I stopped in to see the BWV model (we were staying at Dixie Landings on a trip already planned) and met my guide. That was more of a guided tour. I also did a tour of the VWL model when it opened and the BCV model. Those were just "here they are", no guided tour.

We bought sight unseen as well. I've visited the Boardwalk DVC office two times and taken the tour there once. I toured VWL and BCV at their locations.

Total freebies...a VWL pin.

I didn't expect anything, so I wasn't disappointed.
