I am getting ready to head out to an appointment and I am wearing khaki shorts and a polo shirt. I remember long ago that my mom used to get dressed up in a dress and heels to go to the doctor, as was the norm back then. Do you get dressed up when you have a medical appointment?

At least I put on a little make-up!

I usually go to the doctor's from work, so I am wearing pretty casual clothes. I would not dress to the nines to go, but I would wear clean clothes.

No. Usually you end up being naked half the time anyway  and get stuck with a paper gown.

I wear everyday clothes to see the doctor--nothing special.

I typically avoid the doctor at all costs, so if I am going, I feel awful. The last visit I went to I was wearing yoga pants and a tank top with a zip up hoodie and sneakers.... I am not a dressy girl though.... I wear scrubs to work and casual clothes around the house, so the only time you will catch me in heels is at a wedding or something of that sort. I'm going to a baby shower this weekend and I am excited to have a reason to wear some cute clothes!

I don't dress up in church clothes to go to the doctor, but I make the extra effort to look nice when I go. I always figure I'll get better treatment if I'm well-dressed than I would if I go looking all scruffy. (Which shouldn't' be the case, but I'm positive it is!)

No more than what I wear most every day. I do make sure I've had a fresh shower, though.

If I have an appointment on a work day, then I wear a dress. If I'm home sick and have to go in unexpectedly, I'll wear jeans and a t-shirt or sweatshirt.

I'm still a little mortified about the time I had to go to the ER in flannel pants and sweatshirt. :rotfl: I rode in the ambulance so I didn't really have time to gussy up. It did turn out to be pretty handy, though--they let me keep the flannel pants on under my hospital gown because I was cold and the pants had no metal. I didn't have to worry about flashing anyone.

Nope, I never dress up to go to the doctor. I spend too much time there to bother with dressing up. If I'm going to be there for hours on end, I want to be comfortable!!!!!!!!!!

No I don't dress up,but I do make sure I shower. I work in a doctor's office,most people don't dress up.

I seriously doubt that someone wearing dress pants and a blouse will receive better treatment than someone wearing sweat pants and a t-shirt.

It depends on what you mean by dressed up. I don't go in my PJ's or sweats because I don't want to get sent home with anti-depressants and I always make sure I am neat and clean for the Dr's comfort.

This reminds me of a funny story. Years ago a friend of mine's Grandma was visiting from the Philippines. When Grandma was here she used to get all her Dr's visits lined up for the year during the trip. So one year, right around Halloween, Grandma was getting ready to see her 'Ladies Dr.' and used what she thought was feminine spray. SO she goes to the Dr and while he is taking care of her he says "My goodness you sure got dressed up for me today!". When she gets home she asked my friend to translate what was in the bottle of spray she used.. it was glitter spray:rotfl2:

Um, okay, I'll fess up to putting on some makeup and trying to wear something a little more flattering to see my PCP. Hey, what can I say, I think he's cute! :lmao: If I'm sick, though, I just wear something comfortable like a tee shirt and jeans, and I certainly don't bother with makeup.

Anyway, I'm just joking. I really like my doctor and since I've started losing weight I want him to notice it. He gives lots of praise and compliments. :thumbsup2 Always good for the self esteem!

I dont dress up for anything;)
In the summer I wear shorts and t-shirts everyday, so if I had a drs appt, that is what I would go in. In the winter, I am in those nylon type workout pants and a t-shirt, again I wouldnt change. However, I do shower and wash my hair everyday:thumbsup2, and I can guarantee that my clothes are always freshly washed, even if it is stay home clothes.
I think its funny for us ladies who go to the oby/gyn in, in reality does your dr ever see you in your "real" clothes. Normally, they come in while you are sitting there in your paper gown:confused3

Oh heck no. Half the time they make me get practically naked anyway! If I'm going for something like a knee problem or an elbow issue, I'll wear something that can provide the easiest access to that part (without having to undress). I also tend to wear tee-shirts so they can get the blood pressure cuff on easily.

Aside from that, I DO shower, brush my teeth, shave the legs and such and wear deodorant. My clothes are always clean too.

I don't dress up specifically, but I usually go after work, and I'm wearing business casual clothes. I do remember going to the OB/GYN one time, and the medical assistant told me to look out for an older woman (like about 70) wearing tight jeans and very high heeled boots, who was coming out of the examining room. I must say, she looked great for 70. We were remarking that even us younger women couldn't walk in those boots! :lmao: So, I guess it was the norm in the ole days to dress up for the dr.

My aunt's mother always dresses up for doctor's appts. It's like a social event for her, she will wear fresh stockings, blow out her hair, do her makeup, wear nice clothes. She goes and chats with all the other little old ladies, catches up with the receptionists. She goes to at least 2 appointments a week, but she's a perfectly healthy 80 year old, she's probably in better health than I am. So for her, its' her social event, instead of a temple group, she goes to doctors.

As for me, I don't really dress up, but it depends where I'm going and where I'm coming from. When I go to my derm, I dress up because he's in a really swanky office, and I feel out of place if I don't dress up. He's great though, I never have to wait, he's very thorough, and a really nice guy. Other times, I'm usually coming from school, so I would just wear what I wore that day, whether it be scrubs, jeans, or dressy clothes (depends on what day it was). If I'm sick, I really don't care what I'm wearing. I do always make sure to shave my legs and armpits before an appointment though, even if I'm sick. I don't want people seeing my hairy legs.
