Do you force your teenager to keep their room clean?

DS15 (almost 16) has had a messy room for years since I stopped cleaning it on a regular basis about4 years ago.
Sometimes you can't even walk in there. He will clean it if he's having someone over...otherwise I shut the door.

I do take the curtains down and wash the hardwood floor and make sure there is no dust in there a couple of times a month. He has to pick-up before I can do this though.

I don't think most teenagers really care if they have a clean room or not. He does like clean sheets once a week and a CLEAN pillowcase EVERY night!

This was a huge battle growing up! I remember coming home and my bed was totally covered my mom would empty my drawers onto my bed and then pick everything that was on floor up and put iton my bed!
Now that I am an adult and married, 2 kids...well my room is still a mess! I can't help it! The rest of the house is cleaned daily always picked up before I go to bed. Kids rooms basically clean. I do make them clean it but I also clean it every week head to toe! So go figure I must have some emotional issue with my room! Luckily it doesn't phase my husband! But he knows I will clean it! and I wish I could say it was his mess....but I do make the bed!
