Do you ever feel drawn toward a certain place, that you have no ties to?

All things Italian. Particularly Rome. And I find Egypt fascinating. Always have. I have no idea why--maybe I was a Roman soldier in a past life?

I've never been to Italy, but everytime I see photos I feel almost homesick and even get a litle teary-eyed sometimes. Weird, isn't it?

One day, I'll get there.

My youngest son loves anything Scandinavian. One of his favorite places at Epcot is Norway. He could seriously spend hours in there.

Supposedly there is something called "genetic landscape". If there are many generations of your family from a certain area you can inherite the familiarity of that area. Note: you may think your ancestors are from a particular area and they may not be, things happen - children are adopted (in the old days that wasn't discussed) or have a different father than they thought(that REALLY wasn't discussed ;) ). There was a book about it several years ago, it makes sense to me because I am really drawn to Southwest England. I even had dreams about a large hill with a tower on it (I'd never seen Glastonbury Tor until I visited there) and dreams about a church with a graveyard with a certain headstone. Sure enough I saw the church and headstone when I visited there and I saw the Tor. Weird....

I always figure if you 'resonate' to a certain place or culture...you've had a past life there (a GOOD past life ::yes:: )

In that case, I must have been Irish in a past life, because that's where I feel I am supposed to be. I've never been there, but will....maybe in 2007 or 8.
Not exactly sure when I will be there, but I will be there.

For me its Medieval England...I get chills just thinking of it and I do sometimes convince myself of a past life there just because of how vivid things are for me. I remember having such a realistic dream about people and places and when I looked them up they turned out to be pretty right on.

I am extremely fascinated with Italy, and with New York City. Never been either place, but I have always felt that one of those places is where I am supposed to live.

England, particularly the towns and villages around the city. Its funny..... I hate large cities in the US but London doesn't usually bother me.

I have felt "at home" both times we traveled to London.

I have always felt at home in Florida moreso than anywhere else. When we go on trips to FL I always feel like I am coming home as soon as we cross the state line.

We used to spend summers on the West Coast (around Crystal River) and that always felt like home. :) Maybe I can retire there...

Scotland.

I'm actually drawn to Europe, but when I narrow it down, it comes to UK, then down to a specific place, Scotland..........in particular, when I was researching my last name in college for a class, it was traced back to Ireland and then to Scotland (Scots who emigrated to Ireland in the first big emigration), and I remember looking at the map of the various clans' territories, and felt really drawn to one area. It was in the "lowlands".........which is funny because you always hear of Highlands, so you'd think I'd want to see there. I can't remember the region or anything, but I do remember that much.

If I see something on TV set in Scotland or hear Scottish accents (believe it or not, being a Southern American, I can not tell the difference between English, Welsh, Irish accents.......but I can distinguish the Scot), I am enthralled.

I was always told we were Irish, and never really felt anything in particular for anything Irish. But even before I went tracing the name, I felt drawn to Scotland (and that's before it was sort of "faddish" to like anywhere, and Scotland in particular), and then when I traced the name, I thought, "Of course!"............like I'd already known.

Weird, huh?

It's Greece/The Greek Islands for me, I am so not of Greek origin. The culture, the food. The coastal pictures along the Agean Sea that I have seen just pull me right in.

Have you seen the movie Under The Tuscan Sun? It is a great movie with Diane Lane and had great scenery. My mom watches it over and over, probably seen it 25 times now. I've seen it about 4. Go rent it. :)
Once a very long time ago. You're right, I need to rent it. Thanks for the reminder. :teeth:

...ever since I was a kid, I've been interested in the Civil War, all things southern, and just felt like it was home. I have no explanation for this. Anytime I've travelled through the area, I've felt like I was home.

My dad always believed he lived during and right after the Civil War. He felt like he might have moved west after that. Anything cowboy - old west -gives him an eerie feeling. He liked collecting books and art about that time period. He never dressed like a cowboy, he was more of a classic, preppy type of guy but he had this strong connection that he couldn't explain.

As for me, I have a deep connection to the Swiss Alps. I've been to Switzerland 3 times and I just feel like I belong there. I don't know why. I love the place - as many people do - but I just feel like this must have been my home in a previous life. Strange, I know.

I agree 100%-- i have ALWAYS wanted to live in VA. I am from NJ. i also am drawn to New Hope PA-- we are not too far from there and visit all the time- i feel like i am at home when i am there.

i am obsessed with the movie "the Patriot" with Mel Gibson-- i can watch that 1000 times and never get bored of it. my whole house is done in colonial furniture etc. i feel so AT EASE in a VERY OLD house.

i actually did a past life regression session (that sounds funny!) i was describing a "dance or a ball" that i was at, it was during the revolutionary war, it was in virginia- and the person doing the "regression" asked me if i was dancing with any soldiers- i immediatley told her no-- he is a "commander" i could not see a name or a face- but i can FEEL the presence of "power" and i also had the felling of being with someone that you really liked for the first time-- you know-- that "butterflies in the belly thing" the feelings were soooo real

i also started descibing my life (i assume after i married this gentleman) i remember being around our dinner table and everything was GOLD- and shiney we were having dinner with some very important people (again i can feel the presence of "power" all around me)- she asked me if i was happy-- i had such a feeling ome over me- i started giggling and said yes! i "felt" the feeling of being happy so much i almost started crying! she asked what we were eating and immediately blurted our pheasant and peanut soup! where in the world would i have gotten this meal from? how many people do you know in our day and age who have this meal--- well not me becausee i am a vegetarian!

sometimes i have a real "ache" to be back in my life that i used to have- almost like an empty feeling in my stomach that i am missing "something"

anyway-- i believe we all have a connection to somewhere because of a past life-- maybe you should all look into it and see exactly why!! :cool1:

I believe we are all talking past lives here. I am from 100% Irish Catholic heritage. But I have no desire to go to Ireland. I feel in my heart I have been Jewish, Lived in Italy & The South. Since I was a teenager reading a book the Jewish thing has been VERY strong with me. I've been telling people this for 20 years. Then I read a Mauve Benachy book set in Italy & it just hit me again about 5 years ago.

Cool Thread.

maddhatir, isn't being 'regressed' the coolest thing? What amazed me also were the emotions I felt while it was happening. The first time I was sure I was making everything up (plains Indian lifetime, yeah sure, I read Hanto Yo, I could make one up). But as we got 'into my story' it was pretty overwhelming emotionally and I didn't think I could make up all those faces/people instantaneously.

I occasionally 'ask' to have dreams about past lives and sometimes have some very vivid ones. Usually about a past association with someone who's in my life now (especially if it's someone I'm having problems with).

For me its the Caribbean.. I have found such a love with the Caribbean.. We started cruising in 2002 and have been 6 times so far and have a trip later this year.. and another for next year.. The beauty of the islands there just draws me back.. its beautiful..

For me it was London and surrounding areas especially the white cliffs of Dover.

When I was 17, we went on a 12 day trip to Europe. It was the blink and miss it tour.

When we went to London, I actually knew where I was and had a great sense of direction. It was weird but I always knew which street to take and the places seemed so familar. Even my classmates commented on it.

Really weird thing is I could almost see myself walking next to myself but I was wearing a poodle skirt and penny loafers...It was a time and place thing.

A few years later, I was at a psychic fair that my roomate made me go to and we were in a group session where the person was talking about "Auras"(spelling?), she singled me out of the 60 people there as having a very young soul and a light blue and yellow aura. She thought I was a totally new soul but then said, no, wait...You have lived till about 20 in the 50's and early 60's... but it was not here...it was probably in the UK...

I almost feel to the floor...

Weird still, My Mom said that as a kid I KNEW the word to songs I had never heard before and they were all from the 50's and 60's. She felt that was weird.

The feeling I got when walking the streets of London was the feeling of home but those feelings have since vanished. Maybe I just needed to go there and finish something. Now that I have, I have not ties left...

:)

Get on a plane and go! It's the most beautiful country ever and I can't wait to go back!!!

Me, I'm drawn to English things, but I'm also really drawn to small port towns in the New England area. Of course, I was born in New England, so I guess that doesn't really count.

I have always been drawn to the Carolina coast as well. Haven't been there yet, but I've Always felt pulled there. I need to go! :sunny:

Also to Italy. I'm even teaching myself Italian and planning a trip. I can't wait to go!! :Pinkbounc

yes- the feelings you get are unbelieveable-- there is no way you can make up those kind of feelings- even if you are just "thinking" about something...you do not get such stong emotions.

i have read you can ask for answers to questions etc before you go on to sleep- i dont think i have ever tried that. pixiedust:
