Do you ever call your teenager on their cell phone just "because"?

Called DD on her cell phone today, just because I felt like it. She said, "Mom, you know I'm at the carnival". Yeah, well I gave her money for the carnival AND I pay the cell phone bill - I can call and check in if I want.

Do you ever call just because?

DD will be 15 in September and I purchased and pay for her cell phone so yup, I sure do "check in".

Yesterday she was at the mall with her girlfriend and I called every hour just to say "hi" . . .

I call everyone and everyone calls me since it's my business, personal, and home phone. But I have free incoming calls which is a plus. But I do use around 8000 minutes a month.

I usually try not to bother my daughter too much while she is out.

But if I have a need to, I will call her on her cell phone. She does not seem to mind at all.

My son always says.....I have my cell phone if you need to find me....whenever he goes out!

Absolutely!!! DS is not so pleased all the time because I interfere with some trick he was doing on his skateboard at the time and DD is fine with it....she also calls just because.

Yes, I call and get his voice mail because he either left it at home or the battery is dead!!! It drives me nuts!!! To top it off, he downloaded Michael Jackson singing Billie Jean with his high pitched giggle at the end for his voice mail message (He has a strange sense of humor...) so it's a double whammy for me when I can't reach him. Thanks for letting me vent.

I send DS text messages sometimes. But if he's doing something outdoors where he's at he doesn't have his phone on him.

Nope, because my kids don't have cell phones and won't until they can get a job and pay for them. If they are going somewhere and will need to reach me they take DH's with them.

my mom odes call my cell when I'm out with DBF,usually with heads up about the weather since she has my number and his(low battery and the like).But only when needed

16yo DS doesn't have a cell phone. When he's away from me/home, I give him mine, but I can't call if he's in a movie anyway. He does call me tho, when it's time for a ride.

I don't call DS "just because". I know pretty much where he is and who he is with before he leaves and his approximate plans. He's either at the movies (he actually text messaged me from there that they were going for pizza after the movie and he would then call me) or at a friend's house or with a group of friends. So I can generally find him when needed. He will call me if his plans change. If I call, I have a reason.

I do, all the time. I got it for her because there are so few pay phones around nowadays and I like her to be able to call whenever she needs to. Also because she stays with her dad out of state sometimes and I like being able to get ahold of her whenever I want to (they never answer the phone at his house--bill collectors. They also discourage her from calling due to the expense even though it's in the divorce papers that she can always call the other parent.)
