Do you dress up for MNSSHP?

and if so, what do you go as? Is it definately Disney themed? Does your whole family go as a group costume or something unrelated to each other?

When DD went for her first trip to disney in 2002, we were there for MNSSHP. She dressed up in her Belle costume (we brought several with us), it was very cute. All the costumes that I had seen seemed to be Disney themed.

MY Dh, BFF, and myself went this past October, and we all dressed up as different things. My husband was a pirate and my bff and I were our own princesses. It does not have to be Disney themed, nor do you have to all get dressed up as a group or even dressed up at all. There are guidelines for what you can wear though, you cannot have anything covering your face, anything offensive, and any costume that would prohibit you from taking any Disney transportation. Have fun!!

We went last year and of course all the kids dressed up, DH and I just had on Halloween T~shirts. We went the first week in October and it is still pretty hot so make sure none of the costumes are warm!
There were a few families that were all dressed up together and were soo cute!

We'll be going for the first time this October. My daughter will almost be three, and she'll be JoJo and I will be going as Goliath *I think that's how it's spelt*

I have NO idea how to make a Goliath costume, but I'll find something. I got Julie's costume at disneyoutlet.com really really cheap!

If it's too hot, I'm thinking about taking her as Dorothy. While not Disney, it's still really freaking cute!

I was going to dress my DS4 up as a pirate. Right now he wants to go as batman but I'm going to try to pursuade him. I'm deciding if I should dress up as well. I might since the next week I'll have a costume contest at work and I can just wear the same costume.

when we went, we didn't dress up and I am glad we didn't. Many of those poor people looked miserable because it was hot and they had the extra things to drag around with them. There was one woman who came dressed as a princess. We saw her when we came in and she looked lovely, by the time we saw her again at parade time she looked awful. She looked hot and tired and just plain worn out.

I think families that wore tee shirts were cute and the little kids that wore basic costumes were ok, but some people went all out and by the middle of the night, they looked pretty worn out.

Our family always dresses up and we usually try to pick a theme when we do it-although our kids are getting older now, so sometimes they do their own thing. One year we all dressed as pirates. Nothing crazy or HOT (I am the one who breaks a sweat before anyone else does...so I take the not being hot VERY seriously). We cut off some pairs of jeans, wore billowy white tops and tied bandanas around our heads and waists. Like everyone...we wanted to be comfortable.

Another year we all got doctors scrubs (can't get any cooler than that). I went to a surgical supply store and we each wore a different color...scrubs are SOOOO cheap and lightweight too). A lot of the places that sell scrubs often have the themed ones for Pediatrics. My daughter found a DISNEY Halloween one and she wore that. I think we had the best time that year because the CM's went out of their way no matter where we were to come over and talk to us and play along with our theme. The kids had a blast (and so did us big kids).

Now there was a year where my daughter wanted us all to dress in Disney costumes...what a mistake...so hot, fussy and generally uncomfortable and 3out of 4 of us tore the costumes off halfway through the evening. She insisted we dress like Jack Skellington or Sally. I'll never do that again. We try to stick to something that is lightweight, easy and makes us all happy.

I'm always kind of bummed when we don't see many folks dressed up for MNSSHP. I've kind of noticed less and less people making the effort as each year goes by. It doesn't take much effort or money, but its a personal decision. I always think that maybe they don't know that the adults can dress up too (we didn't realize this our first year).

We love to see groups like us out there and it adds to the fun. Last year we had a group of 27 of us and we pulled out those surgical scrubs and then had 27 doctors and nurses descending on the park. The pictures were priceless!! My BIL (a real doc), did wear his stethescope and one of the CM's at HM came over and grabbed it and put the one end to her chest asked him if he heard her heart beating. They played along with each other for a good five minutes and then other CM's came over too. Just goofy, off beat stuff...but it sure was a kick.

This past october we attended a MNSSHP with 11 people 5 adults and 6 children aged 12-3 . We made t shirts for us to be characters from peter pan My husband was smee so his tshirt had a smee graphic on it and on the back in really cool lettering it said Smee, becasue there were so many girls on this trip the adults ( myself , my husbands cousin and her bestfriend) decided we would be three mermaids from the lagoon and the back of our shirts said Mermaid 1 and so on. Cousins husband was Captain hook and our kids took their respective roles , it was really fun and becasue the weather was so warm we were so glad we did t-shirts instead of costumes. to add extra to the shirts we put hidden mickeys in glitter glue on the hip, also my sons who went as Michael and John wore a top hot and carried a teddy bear , Tigerlilly had some feathers in her hair and wendy had a blue ribbon in hers. It was really fun. You can kind of see the shirts in my signature pic. Hope this helps.

I will admit, we were worn out by the end of the night but the perks were SOOOOO worth it!

My advice... do what makes you happy because if you really go-over-the-top with the costume - you must suffer for it

OMG! Love, love, LOVE your costumes! I would've thought you were CM's! I'm in awe!

For dinner and the beginning of the party, we all had matching t-shirts (purchased from disneyshopping.com, they had mickey pumpkins and said 2006 on them), my kids changed into their costumes right before 7:00. My son was Davey Jones (he took the hat and "beard" off almost immediately), and my daughteres were Princess Witches (aka a pretty witch), they had their costumes on long enough for me to take two photos, LOL!

I saw a few doctors, I thought that was really cute. LOTS of Disney characters. One of my favs was a family of about 25 that all dressed as tourists. They had on really wild print shirts, tan shorts, hats, sunscreen on noses, and had cameras around their necks. It was different, and they were comfortable . . . . I am pretty sure they were dressed up . . . hhmmmm.... have to think about that now!

We have friends that are going this year for the first time, and they want to dress us as members from the Dream Squad! Can't decide if I think that's a good idea or not!

I am in awe of your costumes too. I don't think I would make it very far into the evening before I went nuts carrying stuff or I'd be passed out from sweating so much! Very cool though! I like to see people that go all out and having fun with it (when else do we get the opportunity?).
