Do you carry your camera/smartphone (to take pictures) with you during the day?

We left them in the room on our first cruise and only took them out when we knew we would be taking pictures (this was back in 2011). Our last cruise was in 2018 and we carried them with us more often (due to this cruise being a 10 day european cruise, we had more opportunities for pictures. We still leave them in the room when possible, it just matters on the activity that we have planned.

It would be nice not to have carry anything but I guess you can't have it all....lol....

Normally, we would lock it up in the safe while onboard and only take it out for excursions. Now, you have to lug it around to stay on schedule, not photo ops.

Not sure now with the transition to apps for everything. But no, normally we just carry our KTTW card. The room is so close that if we want to take pictures we just run down to the room and get the camera.

Yes, it is always with me for pictures, navigator app, and messaging. I purchased a phone case that has a small zipper compartment attached to hold my KTTW card, and a crossbody strap so I can be hands free when I want.

As @PrincessShmoo pointed out, there are lots of sporadic moments where photo ops pop up. You can't just say to a random character in the hall "Hang on! I need to run to my room and get my camera!" They are on a schedule even when it seems they are just wandering.

Also some cruises (Alaska) are more prone to random wildlife sightings. My first cruise to Alaska (sadly NOT on DCL) I was walking around the promenade deck early one morning and an entire pod of humpbacks went passed right next to the ship (I'm talking less than 50 yards away) . I was SOOOOOOO glad I had my camera with me to be able to capture that. If I'd had to run back to my stateroom they would have been gone by the time I got back.

We frequently had our camera with us. But I will be honest, I have dozens of photo albums and hundreds of home videos of our trips full of "sporadic moments" that we we haven't looked at in years. Every time we do a purge, we struggle with why even have them. Although when they announced the end of production of VHS tape decks I bought a new one in 2016 so that if anyone ever wants to look at the videos, they can.

I like to use my phone for phone calls, and my camera to take pictures.

When I walk out the door, I always have one or the other. 95+% of the time, a camera. As has been said, you never know what you'll see. Especially at various times of the day when the light changes. And/or people aren't around to interfere. And so on.

But that was before the snap. Now, it's like you can't go the bathroom without the freakin' app. You may need a new fanny pack to carry that phone around . . .

We also like to have a camera ready for random pictures of our kids and their crazy antics. Funny thing is that they hate having their pictures taken, but love to grab our cell phones to see the pictures and videos that we took of them!

Yes. Even before the navigator app I always carried my phone. It is my camera and I like taking random pictures.
