Yesterday, I decided I was going to buy myself Gilmore Girls Seasons 1 and 2 as part of my Christmas present to myself. I started doing this last year. I figure I work hard all year and I deserve a present from me too! And this way I know there will be one present I get that I actually like! DBF looked at me like I was crazy when I explained this to him. So come on, any other DISers buy themselves a Christmas present? (And no I don't wrap them :))

Yes! princess: I try to stick with healthy gifts for myself.

Two years ago I bought myself a DVD for my exercise DVDs and last year I bought myself an elliptical trainer. This year I will probably by myself an MP3 player or my own bike.

I do.- But I then wrap the gifts with elaborate bows and gold paper and stick a nametag from my DH on them. :rotfl:

i've finally given up after 20 years of marriage on dh ever giving me good gifts. Last year I started buying my own presents. He hates shopping and I would hate the amount of money he spent on something I didn't like so problem solved.

I do that too. That way there are no returns - I always get what I want.

I do. I alwasy get money for christmas, so I can buy what I want. I think of that as a christmas present to me, funded by ___________<insert name here.

with my own money, no, I get gift certificates a lot of times, and buy things for myself with them, but other than that, my family is pretty good about asking/knowing what I want and I usually get most if not all the things I want (within reason) from family and friends.

my dh works in retail , figured out a long time ago-I just shop for myself, wrap and tag it everyone is happy!!! :rotfl2: :Pinkbounc :earseek: he always seems to know exactly what I want???? :confused3 :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Oh yea...in fact dh and I both go Christmas shopping together and pick out what we want to give to each other.
Sometimes we get a mutual gift.

I always buy myself a gift from Me to ME...

Mostly in my single days it was tools. Nobody buys tools for a woman but I needed them since I lived 12 hours away from my family. Now I buy things I need for my home or Rick Springfield CD's, Or Duran Duran...but mostly it's really needed items for the home like new towels, dishes, vases, art work etc...

DH gets me great gifts every year.

Just the other day he showed up with the 3 seasons of the British comedy series CHEF!...I loved that show and did not even know it was out...I have a very thoughtful DH. :lovestruc

Last year was the first year that I did and it was great!! Bought myself a few things and saved them for Xmas- knew what I was getting and looked forward to receiving them.

You have to make sure you get at least one present you are going to love!

My nephew and I have had a tradition since he was little. We get up early the day after Thanksgiving and buy our own Christmas presents. No one else is allowed to join us. We will wait in the line no matter how long it is if that is what we really want. It is a great time to find out what is going on in his life. We love watching the antics of other shoppers. We have seen some major arguments over the last items on a shelf or the last available shopping cart! We have either breakfast or lunch (depending on how long it took us to shop). We then go home and wrap our presents and tag them - To Me, From Me. It is the last present we open Christmas morning.

He will be 18 this year and has already made sure I am not working that day. It will be our tradition as long as he wants.

Our other special shopping day is the morning after Christmas!

I don't necessarily buy a christmas present for myself, but if I see something that I love and it's on sale, I usually end up with it!

Sort of. My husband and I both just tell each other EXACTLY what we want and then I usually end up buying them both. LOL.

The day after Tday i always buy ONE household GIFT!
A dvd/vcr, etc...
ans sometimes I will get a lil somethin for me ;)
for the most part i buy what I want when I want it - dh is the cheap one and won't waste money on those frivilous things I want ;) (like I KNOW I won't get Desperate Housewives Season 1 from him - so I will buy it for me eventually!)

Hubby and I usually pick a big thing that we both want and that is our Christmas gift to ourselves.

Yes, it is called my trip to WDW in Dec. in 2001, 2003, 2004, and 2005. I believe I have started my own tradition.

In a way I do. We don't usually buy each other traditional presents anymore. Instead we do trips. Last Christmas it was the 10 day Christmas cruise on DCL. This year it is a 4 days at Disneyland in early December. It is our gift to each other and since I'm the planner for vacations I'm also the one who buys them.

I've never done this before, but I think I will this year. I'm eyeing a nice Coach bag that I would really like, so that will be my gift.

I learned to do that a while back.
