When I'm in WDW I always buy souveniers for family and friends. However, it occured to me that since they are not experiencing the vacation, perhaps they don't appreciate these gifts. They mean something to me, since I am there, but how do I know if they even want souveniers. Today, people are downsizing and de-cluttering like mad. Am I wasteing my money and time? I do enjoying giving gifts to others.

We bring them Rice Krispie Treats! :thumbsup2

i will usually buy something related to mickey for my mom, because she collects mickey mouse stuff, but otherwise, we usually just buy a souvenir or two. usually a t-shirt for each of us, one other thing for DD and a Christmas ornament for me. my photos are our main trip souvenir.

We only buy souvenirs for others for gifts for the future. Like Rob's mother loves Mickey and Minnie so we buy her stuff. We got her a big bag the last time we were there. She is a teacher and uses this for school. We bought shot glasses for his step dad since he collects them and they don't go to Disney. These are something not in his collection.
We don't buy souvenirs so much as Christmas shop while we are there. I figure that people don't really want memories of me going on vacation.

We have so many people that love Disney, so we do buy souveniers for others. Since we are going in Dec, most will be given as Christmas presents. We do get useful stuff, like umbrellas, shirts etc.

We brought back small gifts for our cat sitters, but that was it. (An oversized plastic Mickey glass because they like large water glasses, and then a fridge magnet from Kennedy because they collect fridge magnets.)

other than that, nope. I send postcards, though.

Really. I also get something for everybody who works for me. It drives my husband nuts. Not the money spent... but the time spent finding the perfect gifts for everyone. We go twice a year. I enjoy doing it so he puts up with it. LOL

We did. It's a think though in my family. When my parents go on vacation they bring us all back something. When my sister goes on vacation same thing. When we go on vacation we bring everyone back a gift.

Now our next trip is our big family trip so we won't be buying anyone suveniors.

Like someone else said, we barely buy for ourselves (and I have two small children too!).

However, if someone is doing something for me at home to enable me to go away (watching animals, etc) then I will usually buy a thank you gift for them. The friends who usually do this for us are also big Disney fans so I do get something from the parks for them, but the other family that helps out are not into it, so I do something else for them (gift certificate, etc).

I doubt most people want a Mickey figurine from someone else's vacation on a shelf, but there are certainly a few who would! I just hate the pressure of buying for others on vacation!

No, not generally. I will buy Christmas gifts if I see something someone who I know likes Disney would enjoy, like one year I got my brother a set of coffees from WDW or a princess set for my niece.

nope- I'm willing to pay a premium for a 'memory' item for myself, but to someone not with me, it would have no memory, and probably not mean much to them.....and I don't like clutter as gifts myself,so I don't do it for others.

No. I wouldn't want a souvineir from someone elses vacation. It doesn't hold any memories for me. I didn't get to experience it.

We only buy Christmas ornaments from vacations. Less clutter. And we can relive the memories each year when putting up the tree. Otherwise, its just a dusty knicknack no one even looks at.

It depends. I will bring back some sort of Mickey shaped lolipop, candy or for the immediate family members...Christmas ornaments.

Not usually, unless someone helped us out, like my in-laws taking us to the airport and back (they like Disney). For my sister who watches the cats, I get her a gift certificate to a local food store. Not many of our family members like Disney as much as we do. I do like to pick up a new shirt when I go; this time I got a cool popcorn container -- Mickey dressed as a ghost holding a pumpkin.

i just try to stock up on the mickey orniments for myself. I dontreally buy anything for other people unless they ask for it specificly.

I have lots of nieces/nephews so I USED to. Last time we went though, I bought a lot of Disney post cards from the local walmart there, and while my kids were meeting characters, and getting thier books signed, I would stick one of the post cards in there to also get signed. ended up getting 2 or 3 different signatures for all of them.. then used extra dining plan snack credits and got each kid a mickey rice krispy treat... and gave them a postcard w/ the treat... now that's the souvineer they all talk about!
