Do you buy clothes that you don't fit into YET?

DH & I are going on a cruise next spring. I love cruising, mostly because of the clothes. I plan for months & months over formal night. There are so many good deals at the mall right now, 100.00 sun dresses marked down to 10.00, formal dresses for 20.00. I'm so, so tempted to buy some but don't have a magic ball to tell me what size I'll wear.

I guess I'll just have to wait until Spring & buy for full price. WWYD?

I would say buy a couple things you think are really great and keep trying them on. Worst case scenario, they don't fit (hopefully they are too big!!!) and you can sell them at consignment or on ebay.

What cruise are you going on? DH and I just booked a short 3 night to tide us over until our 8 night in May.

I think I probably will break down & get a couple things, just go 1 size smaller.

DH & I are going on Royal Caribbean's Enchantment of the Seas. We did a 4 night last December (Majesty of the Seas) & it was wonderful. We had one day at sea & we really enjoyed just relaxing with a tight schedule.

We are BIG fans of RCI. We are going on Sovereign in Jan and then Explorer in May. We have been on Majesty but not Enchantment.

Us too. We went on RCI's Song of America on our honeymoon & fell in love with that company. I couldn't imagine cruising with anyone else. I've toyed with the thought of a Disney cruise but the prices are crazy for a family of 5.

I've done it twice. One was a skirt at Ann Taylor Outlet for $15 and since I was in a 16 and knew I'd want to wear that same skirt when I was a 14 I bought the 14. I'm wearing the 14s now

I bought a pair of jeans at Old Navy about 3-4 weeks ago and they were snug then but I thought I won't be wearing jeans right now. I tried them on this week and they fit well.

I would only do clothes that you are near the actual size. If you're a 14, I wouldn't go buying a 6. Then again, I'm such a tight wad and declutter freak so I only keep necessities that are in budget!

I just went down a size buying clothes from Ann Taylor Loft. I can button them but they don't look good, yet!

I have been tempted to buy some things but I have to try them on because most pants don't fit me right in the waist. Small waist compared to hips. Very few brands fits me right; LA Blues at Fashion Bug & St. John's Bay at JCP are the only two I have found.

Now dresses on the other hand (which I never wear) would probably be okay. I would likely take the gamble especially at those prices. I would try something 1, 2, & 3 sizes smaller. The worst that can happen is that you have to Ebay them and likely MAKE money on it.

I know that I wouldn't be able to get summer weight clothing in Indiana in October, so, when there were good sales for summer things around July 4, I bought things I thought I could use if I kept up the pace. I bought size 6, and I am wearing size 6 routinely now. If anything, the things I bought will be a bit loose, but, then, I was wearing some of my old size 16 clothes when I could have been wearing size 10. One day, actually, I was all dressed to go to work, when I realized that if I tugged too hard on my pants, they were going to fall off. I actually have some favorite things I haven't been able to part with hanging in my closet. They were relatively new. I am looking for just the right person to give them to.

I know! One day I'll wear a size 10 pair of jeans. I only own a couple of pairs so the next day I may be in my old comfy 14s. I gues their comfy because they hardly even touch my body! I don't want to buy much because 10 is just a temporary size.

I like to have one pair of jeans that are too small so that I can tell when I am losing. I just bought a pair of size 12's that I can not get over my hips. At Christmastime it was a pair of size 16's I couldn't get on, so hopefully by this time next year (or sooner) I'll be able to get into them.

I bought a new swimsuit for my trip in november it is 2 sizes to small but I lost 15 pds. so far 10 more to go,if I dont I cant go swimming, others are worn out.

1 beach cover up, 34.00 marked down to 3.00. Size small but made to be big & roomy so it actually fits now.
1 cute Izood polo 36.00 marked down to 3.00.

Woo Hoo! I'm just a tad excited!!!

So, I spent 25.00 for 220.00 worth of clothes!!!

Thanks! Just praying it fits. It's a size 8 & I'ma size 10. I can get it on but can't zip it up. I have until May to wittle that waist.
