We don't get all the adults presents now, a small token to our nearest and dearest, there's too many and we have all decided to cut down, but we always get something for all the children...

...that should be "do you buy", not " do you just buy", in the poll ?

we buy for our parents and that is all :goodvibes

too many to keep track of ..this year my SIL tried to get us to draw names and I refused b/c I only buy for our parents for a reason! I can't afford to buy for anyone else ;)

we buy for our parents (4 + 1 stepmom), and my grandmother (only grandparent we have left).

Yes. There are over 20 adults on my shopping list this year. But then, there aren't many children in our family and extended family so if we didn't give gifts to the adults then we'd just be buying for 3 children (who aren't even our own) and no one else and thats not much fun.

we buy for each other and the 17 year old DD and grand daughter.......two older daughters and husbands and mom and my sister..no.....its an agreement they dont get for us either........we do a stocking for everyone........12 of them at about 25 bucks apiece.......including the little white guy you see below.:)

We buy for each other and for our Moms. Other than that, everyone else on our list are children. Sometimes I end up buying gifts for a couple of people at work, it depends upon the group I am in and what everyone else is doing.

DH's parents & the brother with no children and his grandfather. No adults in my family. And we buy for each other or else get ourselves a group thing (last year our Chistmas present to each other was the DVR.)

ETA: I guess I should change this. We still buy for my oldest niece who is 20. But she's in the gift exchange between the cousins, so only I or my SIL buy for her, not both.

Certain adults - and of course my DGD..:santa:

Previously we've done a secret santa where you draw names out and get someone to spend £20 on, someone to spend £15 on and someone to spend £10 on. This year a lot of the family are feeling the pinch so we are doing 2 presents - one £10 (about $16) and one £5 (about $8). So they are just token gifts to have something to unwrap on Christmas Day.

I've also done a hamper for some friends who have done more to help our DD with a major problem in her life than we can ever repay :lovestruc .

As for the children in the family, we also buy for DD (although she isn't getting anything this Christmas as we had to buy her a professional level violin and bow a couple of months ago) and my little great-niece (20 months).

Yes, we set a budget as it's quite easy to get carried away with our large family :goodvibes. We all exchange gifts, DH and myself, my Mom, our 4 adult children and their spouses, our 2 brothers/SILs' and 2 sisters. Add 13 grands to buy for and you have lots of planning and fun managing it all!!! Postman and hair dresser, etc. get tokens. Love holidays and 'wish lists' are very appreciated and of utmost importance!! :)

We have no children in the family at the moment.
So, we buy for several adults.....DD, DS, DDIL, BIL, MIL, another BIL and his family, and an aunt. That's all for the family part....the rest are for friends.

We buy for our kids only. When my parents were alive we did buy for them. My relatives are all invited to my house for food and fun, but they are adults and they can buy their own stuff, we are all very fortunate and most of us get what we want and need during the year, and luckily those in my family thing it is crazy to go and spend all of your money on a bunch of adults. We would rather just be together and eat and have fun. Call us crazy, but that is the way we are.

We buy gifts for our kids, our niece and nephews, my sis and her boyfriend, our parents, DH's sis and her husband. We also buy gifts for the children's Godparents from the children. We'll buy gifts for various friends, too.

Neither of our sisters will be giving us gifts this year. DH's sis wanted to cancel the gift exchange this year between adults, just kids. We said sure, but I had already planned on a gift for them this year, so we are still giving it to them. They just don't know it, yet. And, my sis doesn't have any kids, so we wanted to give her a gift, also.

We enjoy giving people gifts, especially when we've made the effort to find something they'll really like. I don't need anything, so buying me a gift isn't necessary. Part of my joy is seeing someone open we've given them that they love. :goodvibes

My parents and in-laws are all deceased. My sisters and I haven't exchanged gifts for years, but we do make a point to get together for a special dinner soon after the holidays. We decided we liked spending time with each other better than having to deal with crowds at the mall. My dh and I also don't exchange gifts, we put the money into the vacation fund. We really enjoy watching ds open his gifts, then we make a special breakfast. Works fine for us.

We used to do Secret Santa with the adults. But now there are too many children. . .so we just do the kids.

Yes for our immediate family, but we both have small families.

My parents
MIL (fil passed away before we met)
My sister (her husband died 6 yrs ago)
DH brother (not married)
My 2 grandmas (only living grandparents on either side)
My great aunt (small token gift, she is a nun and is always at dinner so we give her a little something)

Niece (only one on either side)
Nephew (only one on either side)

We're lucky though, my dh travels alot , so we redeem his reward points for g/c for everyone, so we don't have much out of pocket that we spend.

My side we buy for everyone

My hubby dad side everyone buy for the kids, Then adults draw names

My hubby mom side, Dirty Santa and everyone buys for the kids
