I believe. Here's a story I heard on Coast to Coast with George Norry (heard it while driving during the night to Disney a few weeks ago).

A guy calls in to tell about what his 4 year old son had been doing. He woke up and heard the son down in the kitchen. He went down and the son said he was fixing an ice cream cone for his friend. The dad asked the son who his friend was. The son said it was the shadow who lives next door.

The dad said the son won't sleep in his room because he says the shadows keep him awake. Says they won't let him sleep because they want to play with him.

The dad said that the son's room is on the side of their house that faces a Masonic Lodge! The son told his dad that the shadows live in "that house." :earseek:

yes - have never had any thing personally. I would rather not, so I don't think I am "open" to it.....but my SIL and her family have tons of experiences. Edited to add: well, I do - sort of - I think my DD's imaginary friends were possibly her grandma who passed the week she was born and my dad!

OP - used to be from Rochester - used to love the stories...I remember two from restaurants in the area - and the story about Jack the Ripper possibly being buried in the big cemetary..is it Oakwood??? (sorry, I have the worst memory and can't recall the names...) :sunny:

I voted for possibly.

As soon as I start to believe, I hear a goofy story (not your story), and then I'm unsure again.

Very interesting stories. I believe in them, but haven't had any experiences myself. A close friend of mine has though. She had a little blond girl who was haunting her old house. She had quite a few experiences with the the little girl. Found out before she sold the house that the previous owners had a little blond girl who had drowned in the pool next door.

How about a picture?

Nope. Not at all. I don't assign supernatural explanations to things I do not have answers for. Our minds are super weird things. We can convince ourselves of anything.

I guess I would consider myself a half believer. Yes, I believe in ghosts, but not as often as people think there is a ghost. Same thing with psychics - yes, I believe there are people who have the gift, but no way
near as many who think they have the gift. With reincarnation, yes I think it happens, no, I don't think Cleopatria has reincarnated herself a thousand times over. So, yes I believe in the abilities, but usually don't believe individual cases.

Unfortunately, I have to say yes. It's creepy to think they exist, but it's creepier to know they exist. I have had too many kooky things happen that screams "ghost." If they don't really exist, something else wacky is out in the universe. :rolleyes1

I'd like to believe, but haven't been convinced just yet. :)

Yes. I have had many expriences with them.

:hmghost: I totally do and have for a long time, but having worked in the oldest hospital in the country makes me all the more sure

I believe in ghosts. Although I have not had any experiances with them personally, I believe their spirits are around us. You might not believe this, but my friend can sense the presence of ghosts. According to this friend, I have this spirit around me that is petite and frail. This ghost also has the soft voice of an older woman.

Strangely enough, this description fits my Aunt Mary, who died almost six years ago.

Yep- definetly. We did a ghost walk this summer while on vacation. We've had some definte occurances in places we've lived.

Anyhow, this is a photo we took in Gettysburg at the Eternal Flame memorial, at the battlefield, at night. It was deserted as well.

There is a whole story behind this photo- and I completely believe this is an orb in the photo.

Ghosts conjure up images of Casper for me, and I do not believe in that. I do believe that our loved ones don't leave us...that they are around, keeping an eye on things. Maybe ince in a while they make themselves known. I believe that there are some spirits that, for whatever reason, have unfinished business here which means they must stay.

I live in a house that was built in the 1940's. I am only the 2nd owner. The first owner built the house, lived here all his life till a ripe old age, then died...not in the house. We bought the house from his nieces, the beneficiaries of his estate. There are times when I think he comes back to "check up" on his house and make sure we are taking good care of it. Every once in awhile, the dog will stare at a corner of the room, usually the kitchen, and usually the same spot on the counter...and it's not the spot where we keep his cookies. He won't bark, he won't growl, he just stares. I usually say "What's the matter Ted? Is Stanley visiting?" (Stanley was the previous owner). At that point, the dog stops staring and goes about his business. Now, is he staring at Stanley, sitting on my counter? Maybe. And when Stanley hears me call him by name, does he disappear? Who knows? I don't see him, I may sort of "sense" him, but not in an eerie way, but I just get the feeling that he's there based on the dog's behavior. Animals have a much keener sense for things than humans.

I live across the street from a cemetery. Some of the graves are Revolutionary War era. I don't get any real sense of anything over there, although it's pretty busy over there during this time of the year...all the "ghosthunters" are out.

I believe that there an awful lot of things that we do not understand, so I don't discount anything.

I believe in Mary, the black cat, and the big dog ghosts in our house. Mary likes old country music, but you can feel a tension in the house when you play too much modern music. To calm it down, just sing Amazing Grace and it's all good again. The black cat has been spotted going up and down the stairs. The big dog came and jumped up on the bed with us one night.

Now, with that said, yes, I know that it sounds crazy. It's just as crazy as when I hear other people say it. I believe in my ghosties, but I don't believe in the tales of others, true or untrue. Seeing is believing. Maggie

I believe our 1st house had issues. I often tried to tell myself it was my imagination. However, I saw the figure more often then I care to admit, as did my DH. We also heard footsteps in the house quite often. Once I came home from work and heard "someone" upstairs. I called my uncle as I left the house. He lived a couple houses down. Was actually considering calling the police. He came down and heard the noise also. The cats were hiding in the basement. He then yelled up the stairs. We heard the footsteps go into the baby's room. He went up and searched EVERYWHERE! No one was in the house. However the attic entrance was in Nick's room. The farthest anyone would go was peeking their head into the attic hole. They would always put the door back in place and say they weren't going up there. The house was built in the same spot an infirmery had been during the war. If you take a map from then and now it lines up perfectly. I will say we sold the house in 1995. I often wonder if the new owners ever experianced anything.
DO I believe? I want to say no, however that is hard to do given our experiances.
