Do you and your SO always exchange gifts at Christmas?

We keep saying each year, let's just put the money we would of spent on gifts to each other, towards the house, next trip to WDW, etc... but every year we sit opening a pile of pressies from each other!

How about you?

Not usually (nor on our anniversary). We tend to buy something big we need for the house (new fridge, new water heater, etc). I do give him a Home Depot gift card and he gives me something that makes my life easier. One year was a cordless drill, last year was my own tool box. This year, my b-day/Christmas gift is the cruise. He'll get double HD cards!!!

We pool all our money we'd spend on gifts for our bdays (Nov and Jan) Xmas (Dec, obviously) anniversary (also Dec) and Valentines Day (Feb) and go on holiday for new year. This year we're off to Spain!

We give gifts to each other at birthdays and Christmas, but the total rarely exceeds $100.

No. Our gifts to each other is our trips.

My DH and I don't miss an opportunity to give each other presents.

Some years have been "drier" than others, though. Our first year, we had about $10-15 to spend on each other, so we got pretty creative. Some years, we'd buy something really cheap on Christmas day and get nice gifts later after we got our tax refunds.

DH and I did exchange gifts for Christmas until we had our son. After that we took the money we would have spent on each other and spent it on our son. But that is not saying much, as we were usually broke when DS was young. Now we usually buy something big for the house. Or if we need a new car, we will buy that and call it a Christmas gift. When we moved into our new house a few years ago I got a riding lawn mower for Christmas! People laughed about that, but I do all the yard work and it made my work easier.

I think it gets harder and harder to think of girts for my DH. Last year I had an Oil painting done for him of our past 2 dogs and present 2 dogs. It hangs prideof place in our lounge and is beautiful. This yea we have said no gifts, A) because we have no idea what to get each other and B) We go to WDW in January. Living in the UK it's an expensive trip so thats our xmas gist to each other. Now the kids are another matter...........

we place $100 limit and always open them on christmas eve after the kids have gone to bed. We started doing this about 20 years ago because we would get each other gifts and then get too busy to open them. We started opening our gifts to each other after Santa visited so we could have a little quiet time. Its never much, its more just a thinking of you type thing.

We set a limit for each other. This Christmas we made the limit a lot less since we are going to WDW the first of Dec. and will probably pick up a few things for each other there.

Yes...usually doesn't exceed more than $100 each. Some years it is $25. Just depends what we have going on.

A couple of years ago we realized that we were just spending money and not really doing anything special ya know? So now most of our "list" stuff goes to the grandparents and we buy something together that we want or need. Two years ago we bought a large family photo portrait done by a local artist and printed in sepia tones which we love!

Haven't decided what to do this year but money is tight - I may suggest a Christmas car payment!

I always tell him not to get me anything but he always does. I even tell him to limit it to stocking stuffers but that doesn't work either. I don't need a thing. My gifts are my trips to WDW as far as I'm concerned. He sees it differently. I told him this year no stocking stuffer either so we will see.

We usually do a trip as our gift to each other. Last year it was the 10 day Christmas cruise on DCL. This year it is an early December trip to Disneyland.

How about picking me up a Christmas gift while you're there? They were all sold out of the gold Mickey ears in June.

Same here. We often set the limits differently each year but no matter how big or small we always exchange gifts with one another for Christmas, birthdays or annversaries.

No, we don't exchange gifts for Christmas, Birthdays, Anniversaries, Valentines Day or any other time. If we need something we go and get it. I would rather spend the money on the kids or something for the house. I can't remember when the last time was that we bought each other gifts, my oldest is almost 18, so it has probably been around that long.

DD knows my rule--I want nothing with an electrical cord. If you use it around the house (like a vaccuum or a crock pot), it's a household necessity--not a gift for me.

LOL... That's actually my DH's rule. One year I asked for a dishwasher and he was appalled! He loves being romantic, but I swore up and down a dishwasher was romantic to me.
