Do you actually purchase items from companies who spam you?

Do you purchase items being sold by spammers and businesses who use invasive pop-ups?

  • I’ve purchased items from companies who send uninvited spam to my e-mail box.

  • I’ve purchased from companies who attach their pop-up ads throughout sites on the Net.

  • I’ve purchased from companies who embed spy-ware into my system.

  • I’ve purchased items from spammers AND pop-uper’s or spy-ware senders.

  • I sometimes follow the links to spammers Websites, but I’ve never purchased what they are selling.

  • I sometimes follow links to pop-uper’s Websites, but I’ve never purchased what they are selling.

  • I follow both links from spammers and pop-uper’s, but have never purchased what they sell.

  • I never open Spam and I don’t purchase items who stick their pop-ups on Websites that I am viewing

  • Other - please explain!

I’ve never done a poll before, so bear with me! I’m having problems with spy-ware at the moment, and I’m really frustrated – that that has prompted me to do this poll. In addition to spy-ware problems, my primary e-mail address is so inundated with spam each day that I can no longer use that account. I’m talking in the neighborhood of 50 or more spams each day! Then there are the Internet pop-ups and those pain in the you-know-where ads that show up on the text of some of the pages as you are trying to read them.

I’ve never met a soul who doesn’t mind this annoying interference with Internet activities. Nobody likes spam, pop-ups, or spy-ware. I know that when somebody shoves an ad down my throat, I become so angry that I wouldn’t purchase their product of they gave to me for free! Moreover, I’d rather light fire to my cash than to give it to them!

But there must be people who DO follow those links and who do respond to spammers – otherwise they wouldn’t do it, right? So, I’m really curious as to how many people actually do purchase things or follow links from uninvited Web advertising tactics. If you do purchase from these companies, I’d be interested to know if their invasive ads made you more likely to make the purchase or if you’d have purchased the item(s) anyway.

I've bought a bunch of stuff from the X-10 people, but not as a result of popup ads or spam. I got that website from some guys at work.

I consider telemarketers as SPAMers as well. And I've never ever purchased anything from anyone who called to offer me the "deal of a lifetime". And that includes Sears and their darn service contracts. If I wanted a service contract, I would have purchased it at the store.

STOP THE INSANITY!!!

Nope...just delete, delete, delete.

only if Im done buying what some idiot who called durring dinner to sale me somthing I dont want

Never buy. But I do buy from companies to help insolate me from them. In addition to two separate anti-virus programs (that I have been able to set to work harmoniously with each other) a software firewall, in addition to a firewalled router, I also use MailWasher Pro to help me scrub my email (it is a work in progress and works wonderfully) as well as I now have the upgraded to the pay-for Ad-aware Plus, which is a step up from the wonderful free Ad-aware I have been using for about one year. It is proactive (so far 100%) rather than just reactive. I suppose I pay $100-$150 a year for all those above 5 programs, but it is so worth it, IMO.
