Do we still need to buy COVID Insurance after April 1st???

Good Day All,

I am flying home April 1st from WDW. YAY I don't need to test! But should I still buy Covid Insurance? If I get really sick from Covid and am unable to fly it would still be some benefit? Is there any type of insurance that covers if I test positive here in Ontario before I go and have to cancel? What are your thoughts please?

My insurance through work covers me if I get sick while travelling (even with covid) and need to be hospitalized (or my son for that matter) so I wouldn't need additional for that now. It did not cover quarantine because you can't fly home so I would have for that. As for cancellation, I guess that's up to you. How much can you recover without it? For instance my cruise can be cancelled if I get a positive teat and I'll get either FCC or refund for that. Flights I can change up to 24 hours beforehand. I think I'd lose my precruise hotel room but can insure that when I book it and it depends on which one I book. I don't see a "covid" reason for more insurance at this point, but again, it depends on what you are doing and what you can get back without it.

My workplace coverage through Canada Life covers Covid illness (hospitalization etc...) I specifically checked. Covid related trip cancellation/interruption is pretty inexpensive, I was considering adding the Manulife coverage just in case we test positive before we go, however I think our strategy will just be to use our stockpile of rapid tests in the week leading up to the "official" test to enter USA. If any of those are positive, we'll have enough lead time to cancel, and only lose our deposit.

We just purchased out of country medical travel insurance through our local CAA office and she told me it includes covid related illnesses now because Canada is no longer under a "travel advisory". Trip interruption/cancellation would be different however. We did not purchase that.

Because of your comment I just contacted CAA and have purchased my Covid coverage from them. They may cost a little more but the coverage is doubled then Manulife or Blue Cross. I'm very impressed with what I got so thank you very very much for commenting on my post. . PS: You don't need to be a member of CAA in order to purchase their insurance.
