Do we pay extra to ride the amphicar at The Boathouse restaurant or is it part of dinner?

Not trying to defend the cost, but for the car fans and gear-heads out there ... these are supposed to be authentic (restored) amphicars which are pretty rare. I think part of the price comes down to riding in a true amphicar.

I guess if you have the money to burn, then go for it! Me personally, I love cars (maybe not a traditional gear head) but that is just too much money to part with to get into an amphicar for just 20 min and I don't even get to drive it at all!

For all the gear heads with money to burn, I will bring out a blow up raft and paint it to look like a car....I will only charge half the price of the amphicar but the good news is you can do all the paddling, that way you can get your monies worth. :boat: :rotfl2:

Well we are using DDP this trip and it will be a heck of bargain because it's free! And if it wasnt for free dining we would never even consider eating at The Boathouse because it seems like a complete rip off.

We do not consider the Boathouse to be a rip off at all. I have an ADR there in October and I am very excited to go. I do not have free dining, but I do not feel it is outrageous for what it offers. I can also find entrees that are not that high. It depends on what you want to order.
I am not interested in the amphicars at all. But for those who are interested and who are willing to pay for it, I say great.
If it seems like such a rip off to you, do you really want to use 2 TS credits there or would you enjoy yourself more spending those credits somewhere else? Just a thought

After a great deal of reasearch on the boards and on the internet we have come to the conclusion that the Boathouse is a total rip off and not worth the money at all nor is it worth 2 credits so we did actually change our reservation to go somewhere else. Like I said, we enjoy and are willing to go to high end places to eat but they have to actually be worth the money, not a nicely-themed rip off, which we think it is. We have eaten at Fulton's who is also pricey but we dont feel ripped off there. We get more bang for our buck and we feel the food portions and quality are worth it.

I can't consider it a rip off unless I actually ate there and knew what I'd get for the price, but it's quite an outlay just to find out.

I've never been one to balk at high restaurant prices, but when the tab gets in the neighborhood of several weeks worth of groceries, I'm out.

There is something for every budget and every taste out there

Doesn't make one right and one wrong folks :)

Hey, I work in the auto restoration industry, and let me tell you, the restorations are not cheap! The upkeep is also a factor; to have these cars running each day. I know it seems like a lot, but for a ride in a super rare car that has been restored, it seems about right.
