Do we have to have 2 hotel rooms? (3 kids)

This will be our first trip to Disneyland. It will be myself, my husband and our 3 kids. (ages 8, 6 and 4). Will they make us split up into 2 hotel rooms. Do you get a break on the 2nd room? I didn't realize there was so much planning involved in a disney trip We are very excited though. Any info would be great!

Many of the hotels will accomodate parties of 5. Most will have a fold out sofa or chair. There are also some that have 1 or 2 bedrooms suites. It really depends on your needs. Do you have some hotels in mind?

All the Disney-owned hotels allow 5 max......though they won't guarantee you enough beds for that many. Some of the 5-person room setups are {2Q and a daybed} or {1Q and a kid bunkbed with trundle.} Othertimes, you may just get 2Qs or 1K and be given either a rollaway or sleeping bag (GCH -- if you can believe that!)

Other area hotels -- you just have to ask. Generally they'll allow 5 max in regular rooms with 2Q or 2doubles. Expedia and those types of sites will often say "max 4" even if max is 5. When in doubt, check with the hotel directly for their policy.

Thank you so much! That is very helpful! I was afraid we would be forced to do 2 rooms.

Right now we are looking at booking our trip as a "package deal" on disney online.

We can save a couple hundred dollars if we stay at the Marriott vs. the Paradise Pier. But, I have no idea if it's better to stay at the PP because it's closer? I think there are shuttles running from the Marriott to DL. This is so overwhelming!

Most of the hotels have shuttles. There is also ART--the Anaheim Resort Transit. There's a fee for that. Which Marriott? There are a couple Marriott Residence Inns and Suites, as well as Mariott hotel, and Fairfield Inn, which is also Marriott.

The Clarion has nice size rooms.(top floor).They are right next to the Anaheim Marriot on Conventoin Way.A long walk,so so pool ,but nice all the same.

I would stay within walking distance or on property. It is just so much easier to go back for mid-day breaks...etc.

Just got back from our first stay last week. We stayed at the DLH with three children. We had 2 queen beds and a daybed, it was comfortable for the five of us. We had thought about staying at the GF, but the thought of them giving me a sleeping bag at those prices for one of the kids turned me off. The walk wasn't bad, and the monorail was still running. We were really happy with the hotel.

Disney online is great! Also check out Dreams Unlimited Travel. We booked with them for our upcoming trip.

Stayed at the Candy Cane Inn in 2004 and will be staying there in July 2006. Loved the exclusive free shuttle to the park that runs every half hour. Also the generous free continental breakfast was a great perk. Rooms are moderate and clean.

You'll save a lot by not staying at one of the DL Resort hotels, and will still enjoy the experience. Have fun!

Just so you know, the Residence Inn has family suites for sleeping up to 8 people. We had 7 people in one on our last trip and found it a little crowded, but I think for a family of 5 it would be perfect. 2 bathrooms, plus a separate kid bedroom with bunkbeds the kids love! It's not walking distance, but a 5 minute ride on ART and include free breakfast if you're into that.

We are going with 5 people to DL Hotel too. I'm glad to know they have a daybed in there. I hope we get a room with one.

What do you mean - a sleeping bag?
We just booked for 5 using our DVC points at the GC and the PP. I have been told that these rooms slept five. OMG...I can't believe that for the amount of points that this requires that we'd have to use a sleeping bag!!

We stayed at the GC in January and our room would easily accomodate 5. We had a double bed, bunk beds and a trundle. We LOVED staying close....it is one of the best things about DL (being able to walk EVERYWHERE!)

We booked through Costco Travel and got a good deal that included hotel, a character breakfast, tickets to Mickey's Toontown Morning Madness, preferred seating at shows (like Aladdin, etc).....Check out Costco!

It is a little overwhelming booking a Disney vacation but planning is part of the fun!! You found a great resource...the Disboards!
