Do we have any options, may not be able to go on our trip next week?

We are due to leave next wed, and fly thursday to disneyland. My daughter, who turns 23 on tuesday, was admitted to hospital with bowel issues (had 3 surgeries on her bowel as baby). We are not sure she will be clear to travel, and even if she is, we dont think we can get travel insurance for her (we are from Canada) She is so upset on top of being in pain, and I am very worried mom right now, so for me, the thought of even going on the trip is hard to think about. We can cancel our airfare with almost no loss, but the disney tickets, are there any options? With her college program beginning in 2 weeks, we probably would not all be able to go until these tickets expire. After spending over 1100 Canadian, that is hard to accept that we will be out all of it. Anything you can tell me would be very appreciated, thank you.

As the pp said, the tickets retain their original monetary value past the expiration date. So even if you can't use them before that date, you can still take them to the ticket booth at a future date and just pay the difference between the expired ticket value and whatever the current ticket price is when you visit DLR. (So don't throw those tickets away and keep them in a safe place!) Tell your daughter that the DIS Boards hope she gets well soon!

Thanks so much everyone, I will tell her this morning when I get to the hospital. At least I know we have options if we cannot get insurance. <3

Travel insurance might not cover the cost of the tickets since they retain the value you paid for them. It seems like it would only cover a true loss, such as airline cancellation fees. I have no experience with this, just speculating. Keep your tickets safe! (And take a picture for back-up.)

If you don't use the tickets, Disney will allow you to put the money you paid for them towards your next ticket purchase. I would call them for details.
Hate to say it but I would cancel. Although next week should be relatively light, battling crowds after that kind of illness isn't going to work out well IMHO.
I would wait and go when you know for sure she is up to it.

I believe the OP is talking about medical travellers insurance. Us Canadians have to get that in case something happens to us when we leave the country. It's usually very cheap (a few dollars a day) but won't cover costs relating to previous medical issues unless they are disclosed (and then the cost goes way up).

Best wishes to your daughter. I suffer from IBS which im sure is nowhere near what she deals with, but i can understand at least in small degree how terrible bowel issues can be. I hope she recovers well, and disneyland will always be there in the future for you!
