We will be going to DW for the first time in July and I keep hearing about the HUGE portions that are served at many TS places. If it's simply too much food will the TS places let you split meals? Just ask for an extra plate? Sorry for the newb question, but the search function isn't working.

We split meals all the time and never have a problem. In fact many TS restaurants will split it before it comes to your table which is very nice. We've also had some places like Yak and Yeti and Spoodles just bring us an extra plate HTH.

Generally, they don't have a problem with that.

Please remember that it is appropriate to tip an extra few dollars when two patrons are splitting an entree.

Also, please note that many restaurants are not serving more reasonable (i.e., smaller) portions.

It's easy to do at Disney World. When you order, just say that "we will be sharing the *whatever dish*". Most times, the meal will already be split when it's brought to your table. Or, you can just ask for a second plate if one of you wants more than half.

We never buy kids meals because my kids just don't like them. We just order what my dh and I want (with a thought to what the kids like, too), and then just say "We'll need an extra plate for each of the kids." I've never been to a restaurant, Disney or not, that has a problem with that. If they make a face, which sometimes happens, I just explain that they are small and you never know what a small kid will eat. They almost always agree to that and cheerfully bring the extra plate.

Sometimes at Disney we'll just order an appetizer, one meal, and dessert for the whole family to share, and it is plenty for the 4 of us. I am, however, in possession of the lightest eater on the planet (dd, age 4), and the pickiest boy on the planet (ds 2), and dh and I are both fairly light eaters.
