tell me what you think...

You are talking less then $100 difference to stay "in" the park. For us it is a no question question. There is such a different vibe when you stay at a Disney resort. Yes, the line for the buses is long but it is still fun.

Also, the biggest decision maker for us would be the UPH's. The freedom to park hop is such a luxury. I think you will be surprised at how much you actually do just that.

It's your Disney vacation. I say go for it and do it all Disney!

Good luck with your decision.

*Edited to add... When are you going? That seems really high for three nights at an all stars resort! I thought the highest rate they had there was $129 per night?

If any way possible it is always better to stay onsite. Its a vacation, for under $100 relax and enjoy rather than drive and fight the crowds to get in.

Stay on site. Its worth it.

2002 we didnt and we hated it.

2003 we did and will never leave the Friendly Confines of WDW Resort. :teeth:
You get the Early Entry, wake up calls from Mickey and the atmosphere. You dont have to fight the traffic at the parking lots.

If you were saving 300 or more, I might consider it, but probably wouldnt do it.

Theres something magical about staying on site to make me never want to stay offsite again.

I respectfully disagree. We WAY PREFER staying offsite for many reasons, not just cost.

However, in this particular example, I don't think it is worth being offsite to save $75. We don't do the water parks or Pleasure Island, so offsite is definitely cheaper. But in your case, I'd go with the onsite stay..

Any BTW parking is $7, not $5

We wouldn't stay offsite no matter what the savings. lol We just prefer that our WDW vacation be 100% DISNEY! :D Good luck with your decision!!

We now drive to most parks, even when staying on site. It just seems to work out better for us, especially when parkhopping. I do plan to take the ferry to MK from FW in April-just love that boat ride from our first trip in 88 when we saw Donald steering a boat and Goofy waterskiing behind (haven't ever seen that since!)

Otherwise I don't care for the lines for buses at park close and standing even in early am to get to the parks.

Another vote to stay onsite. I too see the value of staying offsite, but in your situation, $75 is definitely not worth it.

Even if you choose to drive, you will still come out ahead in the amount of time you save and having early entry to complement your UPH's.

I think the flexibility alone is worth $65. If you pay the daily fee for TL or BB you will want to stay all day to get your money's worth and the same goes for PI. With the UPH you could do all 3 in the same day for a couple hours each and fit in a nap.
Don't forget DisneyQuest. You could stop in and see if it is something you would like to do. We really liked DQ and it was great when the park hours were short or it rained.

Your 2 nights where will you stay?

ok ya got me convinced.. I am such a cheapster though!

We took our two dd to the world last year and stayed onsite. (asmo) loved it. But since our kids were young they pooped out so early. We missed SO much.. After a day in the parks and a quick dinner they were ready for bed before the kiss goodnight. I never even saw the electro parade or the night time fireworks.. saw illuminations but had to carry both sleeping girls all the way from the lagoon to the buses! We waited in line SO long for playhouse disney at MGM that thats just about ALL we saw :(
SOOOO honey and I are having our honeymoon at WDW! YAY!!

and we will be staying at ASMU

yay for disboards! yay for not being a cheapster!

If your talking about the Rodeway Inn on I-92 Bronson hwy......for the differance of $80 Stay on site!

We stayed there one night because we drove into Orlando at 2:00 am and didn't want to spent that few hours at AllStars room rate. The room was clean enough...but to spend a week there & for the difference in cost (<$80.00) you'll be MUCH happier at the Allstars.

That is awful expensive for three nights at the Allstars!! :earseek: The most you should be paying a night depending on when you're going is $122 and some change. That's with the FL resort tax and the preferred room. I've played around online and checked prices for just one night and that's what I come up with.

At the rate you quoted that's $290.56 a night for a room at the Allstars!!!!!!!!!! HUH???? :worried: Was that a package quote maybe? I see you mentioned ultimate hoppers, but you also mentioned paying $87 a night for 2 days...the math just doesn't seem right. Help???

yes its $871.70 for the dreammaker package for 3 nights for two adults.. at the allstars.

and 43.70 a night at the rodeway inn a rate I found at expedia.com (we stayed there a few days last year)
we want to stay at the cheaper hotel the first night of our trip since I refuse to waste a possible park day.

Our itinereary works out as follows

saturday - wedding and reception

sunday - leave from SC at 6 am to Orlando - about 8-10 hours check into Rodeway Inn approx 5 pm.
Visit DTD- or dinner at Ohanas?

monday- check into ASMU at 7am
EPCOT dh LOVES turkey legs. He wants to eat as many as possible. Snack as we see fit. If we are hungry after try to hit Beaches and cream after illuminations. Possible visit to Pleasure Island? if we arent pooped

tuesday
Magic kingdom- more turkey legs. I WANT to see WISHES this time. Probably eat Dinner offsite and then hit Pleasure Island.

wednesday
MGM.. YAY!!! eat lunch at Prime time cafe. See fantasmic. possibly visit Pleasure Island.

thursday
check out of ASMU 8 am
visit AK.. ride major attractions and see what we missed last year.
head to Typhoon lagoon. and stay until we are pruney or they close whichever comes first
check into Rodeway Inn and have dinner at a DTD resturant. Visit Pleasure Island.

friday check out very early and drive home to SC

Any park day can be changed according to the weather. I WILL NOT visit EPCOT on a rainy day. unless the weather indicates it'll rain the whole week. It rained last time and the world showcase was all closed up. Any other park can be visited in the rain.

Right now if you buy one night's admission to PI you can get 5 more nights for 5.00. Also, you can get PI tickets (which don't qualify for the PI deal) at www.ticketmania.com for much less than gate prices.
Also, you can drop the first and, sometimes, last day off the UPH.

Having said that, I would always opt to stay onsite.

I noticed that you are doing a package? did you price this out separately?

Comfort Inn at Lake Buena Vista is a decent motel with rates less than what you are paying at Roadway.

Do you have a AAA card? I booked a room with my AAA over the phone for Pop Century in September for $69/night. Online it is showing up as $90 something a night! You have to call in person to get the AAA rate.

Just a thought. We loved Pop Century, but a lot of people seem to enjoy the All Stars too. I would stay on site if at all possible, we really prefer it.

I would also consider not doing a 'package' and just buying tickets for what I wanted myself. I just ordered 3 Day parkhoppers that include 1 plus for $169.35 / adult.

If you want more information on these you can see this thread:
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=506196

A rumor is circulating on this board that on Feb. 15th the prices for the hoppers will be going up, that is why I ordered today. Of course, this rumor may not pan out, but I decided to order them just in case.

Definitely stay onsite. I'm staying onsite this year for the first time, since this if the first year I've gone to WDW since the Value resorts have been built. :Pinkbounc

I see where you're figuring comes from, lol. Since you want to make the most of your UPH, you certainly don't want to drop the first or last day from it. The only thing to reduce the cost a bit is to change from preferred room to standard room - this brings the cost to $829.70 rather than $871.70. I have never stayed at ASM so I have no idea what advantage the pref room has over standard.

Have a great trip!

Try to book each component on your own, separately, and see how much it would cost. If you buy your own passes instead of the UPHs that come with the package, any leftover days would be yours to use forever. UPHs give you a lot of freedom, though-you wouldn't have to buy tickets for PI. I would do the math for the separate costs of the room and the tickets, and any extras that may be included. I have acted as my own personal travel agent since 2000, and have not found a package yet that rivals my own planning (other than the Fairytale pkg, if we were not returning within 365 days).
Congratulations and have a great trip!

The preferred rooms are in the Fantasia building which overlooks the pool and is convenient to the lobby and food court. No Big Whoop- the other buildings are fine.
