Do they still invite kids to join the MK parade?

A while back I remember reading if you were standing in just the right place at the right time, you may get picked to join the parade at the Magic Kingdom...Is this still true?

Darn it! There are good and bad things about going every 3 years and that is one of them...sometimes I miss the good stuff!

Thanks!

Actually, while it's sad that the parade 'stops' were eliminated, it's actually a GOOD thing in terms of safety!! After the horrible backstage accident/fatality last February (when a CM fell beneath a float), safety rules, which were always strict, were tightened up even more. The children were always so excited to dance with Snow White and the brides maids etc etc, that they'd dash out into the parade route. The parents did the same thing trying to get pictures. At times, it was very chaotic!!! The parade CM's had a difficult time 'staying in character' and controlling the people. Eliminating the 'stops' was really the right thing to do. Better that the children are safely behind those ropes with mom and dad.

Not to mention that the kids would continue to go along with the parade and that the parents could not always keep up and the first thing you knew you had a child lost in a mass of people, parents going crazy trying to find them and what seemed a nice thing turns into a very bad experience.

Whew!! That is perhaps the longest sentence I have every written.
