Do they offer excursions from the departure port?

I know you can do excursions the day you get off of the ship, but what about the day you board? We're not doing a round trip and the departure port has an amazing-sounding kid-centered excursion that we probably couldn't just find independently.

Generally, no. The excursions in those ports tend to be for the cruises that call there - so, the NY cruise that calls at PC, there is an excursion there, but there are no boarding/debark excursions.

I have not heard of excursions that can be done before the ship departs at the beginning of a cruise. The excursions available on debarkation day can typically be booked only once you are onboard. It would be surprising (but not impossible) if DCL allowed someone to board and then get off the ship for an excursion and re-board (carrying carry-on luggage).

It may be possible to find private tour companies in some port areas that will tailor an itinerary for kids, but to get the DCL family excursions you probably need to be on a cruise that has that city as a mid-cruise stop.

You usually only do excursions on debarkation day in conjunction with the European Cruises not those that terminus in the States.

Can I ask what the port is? Usually you CAN find the same excursions, but it can take some digging.

The Castillo San Cristobal tour and kids activities are probably part of what's normally offered by the National Parks Service. It sounds like you might be able to do those independently.
